Pity Party of One

Right here. I'm 23, it's Friday night, and I'm sitting at home with a face mask on watching Sixteen Candles. Shouldn't I be out drinking or something?!??Secretly I'm dying to see Brooke's pics because we have the same venue and I can't wait to see it in pictures.  And we have the same florist...I feel like single white female right now.

Re: Pity Party of One

• Nope, you shouldnt be. You should, though, start enjoying your alone downtime that you have while you have it.
• Enjoy being alone!  It's nice when you have the place to yourself and can engage in "Secret Single Behavior" to rip of SATC.
• True story Nebb. When Fi and I live together I have a feeling that my facemask/80s movie nights are going to be compromised.
• Naaaah, alone time is good every now and then. Sixteen Candles is the bomb too.
• going out drinking is overrated imo - now staying at home with a face mask on , watching sixteen candles and drinking - sounds like a party. But I am a nerd :(
• Yeah... I feel ya. I spent my Friday night so far, laying out gluey mouse traps, took a walk, came back and noticed a squirmy mouse had gotten caught, disposed of it, and now I'm on my laptop and watching family guy. I thought 25 wasn't so lame, but when I got there, I discovered it is. FI isn't home till tomorrow so it's not like I can convince him to go out for nachos, and all of my other friends are the "no, we're in for the night." type. Ugh.
Night swimming in the ocean= pretty sweet reception!
• All true statements. I've been feeling pretty anti-social lately, but I think it's just because my roommate is ridiculously social, and out like 3-5 nights a week. I just can't do that. I need to sleep.
• I wouldn't worry about it. At least you're not sitting home alone on a Friday night reading about family values in the Roman Empire, which is what I'm doing.Tomorrow night after my Netflix arrive I'm totally going to have a movie night and relax.

Wouldn't it be nice to live together in the kind of world where we belong?

• Yeah, I didn't buy them FSIL/roommate did. I don't think she wanted the little wooden ones. All I can say for them is that it worked. In about an hour no less. I felt like I was going to hell throwing it in the garbage. Movie nights can be good fun though. If you want to have a drink in hand for it you can. Going out drinking is pretty overrated IMO, and expensive. So I wouldn't feel too bad about that.

• Well, apparently their idea of family values was somewhat different. I get the idea that there was a lot of sex involved, but more for the men than for the women.

• Sixteen Candles is one of my fiance's favorite movies. He's weird like that. We were in the UK when John Hughes died, and he was devastated to learn that it happened when we were out of the country... for some reason. Like that was the biggest news item we missed over an 11 day period.

• I know now that I will never respect Sassy!  What a cruel way to treat a mouse. How would you like having your feet glued to the floor?  huh?  Get a mouse trap, it's kinder
• my roommate is ridiculously social, and out like 3-5 nights a week. I just can't do that. ^this. That's why before I moved in with FI, I lived alone. I did the roommate thing in college, but towards the end of undergrad--I hardly went out. So, in grad school, I lived alone. And I relish my alone time still. FI's out of town--and I'm loving it!

• My roommate freshman year of college went out 4-5 nights a week. I almost never did.I'm supposed to be writing an outline and annotated bibliography about female journalists' accounts of Mexico in the 19th century. For a meeting tomorrow. Yeah right.

• Luckily Fi and I both enjoy our alone time. I've made it clear that our first house will have an office that one of us can escape too. I also like to have some time where I don't like to talk to anyone. I talk to people alll dayy and sometimes I just want to sit in silence!
• Fi and I live together and we have a 2 bedroom apartment. One bedroom is his home office/guest room, and I have my office space in the (huge) dining room. It makes things MUCH easier. We can get work done at night separately and I can go to bed while he's still up doing work, or watch TV or whatever.

• Sassy, did you throw it away while it was alive?

• The wooden ones are far kinder than than the glue traps. At least then its a quick snap to the neck and not hours of lingering pain. Plus if you throw it out you risk having stray cats/dogs/random animals getting their noses stuck and being injured/killed trying to get to the mouse.Just sayin...
• Glue traps are the worst! They used them at my former job. More often than not, we would get baby snakes w/ their bellies trapped to the glue, and the occasional mouse. I couldn't get them off without hurting them, so I usually ended up breaking their necks, just so they wouldn't have to die a slow, painful death.

• Tide, my old store has a mouse infestation, so their brilliant idea was to set around 50 snap traps and another 50 glue traps, except they didn't tell us. It's a horrible thing to go into work at 5 am and have 100 traps filled with mice in various stages of death. After that I kept setting off the traps myself and tossing them. Then I wrote a letter to my superiors about the dangers of using traps in a store which caters to "bring your pet into the store".
