when you post something on the nest and no one replies however there are over 20 views.  anyone have any creative ideas to help me figure out what to do with bargain letters i picked up :)XP:We bought some wooden letters today.  They were a steal!  $7.99ea.  However they are a little banged up.  So, I need ideas as to what to do to them.  I thought either I could make them even more weathered with some sandpaper perhaps, paint them pear green to match our other accents in the living room, OR get some wrapping or scrap book paper and cover the frontside of them.Here's a picture of them:[img]http://i35.tinypic.com/2s6tqp2.jpg[/img][img]http://i38.tinypic.com/111t2is.jpg[/img]

I'd sand an repaint (or stain, or do antique-y looking paint - you can get the coating that makes the paint crackle at art stores). Are you going to sit them or hang them in the living room? I might even use them as bookends or put them on a curio shelf with some other cool stuff.

They will sit on a floating shelf.  We don't have bookcases in the living room because it's too small.  So, our books and DVDs are on bookcases in the unfinished/unvisited basement.  I like the crackle paint idea.

Personally I would get more letters to spell something out - in different "fonts". Paint them all the color you mentioned and "weather" them from there - scuff them up and what not (scuff, bang with hammer, sand parts, etc). Unless you just want the MA, but I think more letters would look better.

M has those in her living room on a free standing shelf.Shelf is white and they painted and sanded them to look a bit stressed and put them on the shelf.  I think they look great.

Her MIL got the letters B A T H and fabric covered them and put them on a free shelf in their bathroom.I'm not quite that handy.

Im a fan of the crackled look Maybe sand the white (but not too much) then paint with your accent color in a crackle paint.  I saw some of these at HomeGoods the other day and thought about getting them, but we have no bookshelves and Im on a wedding budget and need to save most pennys :)I think they'll look good regardless! Have fun with it!

Those would make some badass bookends! If you could find the old metal ones like at the library, and affix the letters to them after you paint them. I actually want some of these letters now!
