Thanks, I think? (LJ post)

I just had a tech support guy tell me he could keep me on the phone all day and listen to me talk. He said I sound like Reese Witherspoon in "Sweet Home Alabama". That one threw me! I hear I sound like a cartoon character or a kid a lot, esp. if I'm happy or excited about something. I get so worked up I actually squeak out words, but him saying he wanted to keep me on the phone all day kind of freaked me out! What's the most random compliment you've ever received?

Re: Thanks, I think? (LJ post)

  • This morning walking to the subway (I looked like shiit) some guy said "wow" Not sure if he was saying "wow, you're hot" or "wow, you need a shower." lol

  • Okay, now I love you even more, if that compliment is true :) I love Reese in SHA. One of my favorite movie characters of all time. People compliment my eyelashes all the time. I'm always like "Uh...thanks?" I find that to be a really odd thing to compliment someone on.

  • I was once told that my eyes are a really neat colour, "kinda like root beer spilled on ice" was his description.  Knowing who it was coming from, it was an actaul compliment, but very random and strange, too.
  • "You are way too pretty to be driving a car like that"
  • I was outside smoking and a guy walked across the street and told me that he could see how green my eyes were from across the street.  I do have olive green eyes that appear greener when I'm wearing olive green, but that was pretty out there.

  • Funny story: I have pretty eyes, they are like 3 different colors. Growing up, that's the only thing I would ever get complimented on. I always thought that you told ugly people that they had pretty eyes because that's all they could thing to say. So I always thought I was an ugly little girl with pretty eyes. lol
"In the old days my ass would be in your back yard picking cotton, so excuse me if I don't put much stock in how f*cking awesome the old days were." -Nuggs
  • I've been told I have nice, sparkly eyes. I was also told on the subway that I have nice tatas, but that's just a true statement. Quite obvious, really. Come up with something more creative, random homeless guy!

  • I had a makeup artist tell me I had perfect eyebrows (without tweezing or anything). Umm...thanks, I grew them myself...

  • Oh and also, when I was younger some old woman in a restaurant told my mom that she had a "very well behaved little gentleman". A compliment on my behavior, but odd in the fact that I am a girl. Looking back I can see why she might make that mistake, but it's scarring just the same.

I find that to be a really odd thing to compliment someone on.I know people with awesome eyelashes who think the same way. Like, "Uh, I can't help what they look like." But if you're like me and don't have thick or long or awesome eyelashes, it's totally a compliment! I also compliment my friend who has long, thick, wavy hair because mine is short and fine, even though she actively dislikes her hair.

  • My coworker's daughter told her (which she of course told me) that she just loves to call here "ayund heayur me tauhlk" because she just loves my accent.Um, yeah. Do I really sound like a hick, because lady, your family's bought the rights to that train as far as actions go.  But that's a WHOLE other post.

I love you Missy. Even though you are not smart enough to take online quizzes to find out really important information. ~cew
  • "You should be a phone sex operator."  Which confused me since most people ask to talk to my parents.  I kinda gave that guy the side eye after that.In reality, Mom and I were wandering through the craft show here and she was off looking at something so I wandered into the booth with her.  The girl working the booth said (completely out of the blue), "If I had your complexion, I wouldn't wear makeup either."WTF.

  • I've gotten plenty of weird ones, but the most startling had to be the guy who hung out of a car window screaming, "sexy sexy SEEEEEEEEXXXXXXY".
  • I was asked out for pizza by a guy at my insurance company (progressive, I think, so the call center was in a different state) because he liked how I sounded on the phone.I was 19 at the time and it freaked me out and I told him he wasn't being very professional.  Now I'm more than willing to flirt on the phone (and considering that the only person I talk to on the phone regularly is FI, it works out).
  • msmery:  random homeless guys compliment you?  the one random homeless guy that has ever spoken to me (aside from that one drunk) called me a fuckingbitch. :)  Of course, he said that to every woman he saw.  I just felt honored he crossed the sidewalk to let me know what he thought.

  • Oh, and lately people keep complimenting my beaver.  I dont' know what that's all about...

  • Oh, I forgot this one.  I was on my front porch in grad school, and some teenagers drove by and yelled "MILF!" out the window.I was 22.
  • A Starbucks barista once randomly called out my order as "hazelnut latte for the girl with the pretty eyes!". It made my day.
  • Oh and once when I was in college working my work study job I answered the phone and a man on the other end said "If everyone answered the phone like that there would be no war."  (I have been told I have a phone sex voice.)
  • Yeah Moose, there's lots of questionable homeless and semi-homeless guys in LA, period, and lots who like to say things to women like, "hey, you're so beautiful!" Which makes me want to cry and tell them to STFU. I'm pretty sure it's a control device. But sometimes I want to tell them, "Wow, the lack of teeth REALLY turns me on."

  • I was at a gas station in the middle of nowhere and when I signed my name on the receipt, the cashier said, "Is your personality as perky as your signature is?"
  • My Manda and I both almost died the day her friends who are boys started calling me MILF. Just don't. I've known you since kindergarten, so please, just don't.
  • Oh god Bec! That would completely freak me the hell out!
  • At least he said *signature* Kate, and not something else.

  • It was a Math class discussion. I told her she could switch schools. I would have. ICK.
  • Well, Bec, you know...You are a MILF.Just sayin'

  • Completely on board with Bec being a MILF.

  • Well it's not so bad when you lovelies say it. :) It just weirded me out that it was kids I've known since they learned to tie their shoes.
  • uhm, I have a few: my handwriting. my eyes. my voice. my upper lip.yeah. weird. weird and creepy.
  • I was at a bar one night a bunch of years ago with my friends, and this guy came marching up to me (who I had been admiring from a distance for about an hour).  He said to me "I just wanted you to know that you're the best looking girl in here.  I don't want to date anyone right now, I just went through a bad breakup, but if I did, I'd ask you for your number.  I just wanted you to know that." And then he turned around and walked out the door with his friends.Kind of bizarre, but kind of cool at the same time.  He didn't need to say anything but he still did, then just left.  Sort of made my night and creeped me out at the same time.  :)
