Where to shop for wedding dress?

Please provide recommendations of where might be some good places to shop for a wedding dress...

Basic criteria:

1.  Price:  under $1000, but may be willing to go slightly over for something I really like

2.  I would like a fairly simple dress.  Modern, but not weird!  No massive amount of lace, sparkles, beading.  Some interesting details in the construction would be nice.

4.  No train.  Even a pretty tea-length dress might be acceptable.

3.  The only place I can think of off the top of my head is the new J.Crew bridal store, because I'm on their mailing list and I've seen photos of the dresses - most of which I think are nice and within my budget....

Any other suggestions?

RK Bridal had some really inexpensive, simple/modern dresses too.

If you're really interested in a tea length gown, you might want to consider a bridesmaid's gown.  I'm strongly considering getting one.  Many of them look like simple bridal gowns.  

David's Bridal sells a few tea length gowns in  your price range.

You should definitely try Davids Bridal they have all styles and sizes ranging anywhere from $99.00 and up. The dresses are nice quality and dont look cheap

I have to agree with RK bridal.  I got my dress there,  great price,  and my alterations were only $200
