Re: ggmae

  • Hey! I was supposed to, but that didn't work out. Now I'm starting tomorrow.I posted this in the morning vent thread yesterday:"My morning vent is that I drove 40 minutes upstate to start my first day of work and was told that they hadn't heard back about my background check clearing yet - meaning that I couldn't begin work today. I sent the paperwork in almost 2 weeks ago! I called my boss yesterday and left a message just to touch base and make sure everything was all set for today. I walked into her office and she told me that I had to go home because I couldn't start today. As of right now, I'm not sure when I will because she has to contact HR about the status of my paperwork. So yeah, thanks boss."Today I found out that I finally cleared the background check. Woo!How's your first week going??

  • Well, that stinks!  Especially because I'm sure there was no doubt you were going to pass.  :)  Good luck tomorrow!First week has been good.  I think once I get into the swing of things and get stuff going I'm really going to like it.  The people are nice and seem to like me but I'm bringing cake balls tomorrow just in case.

  • GG, I feel you on the background check. Mine have always taken a day or two, three at the most. This last one took 3 and a half weeks! I was scared that something went wrong and they mixed me up with some other person. Best of luck tomorrow!
  • Sarah - I had to take a urine/drug  test too and I was worried that they were going to mix my clean pee up with someone's dirty pee. They didn't! :) I found out that I got placed in my #1 classroom pick, so I'm happy about that. Just 4 (good) kids, and 4-5 staff. Should be fun.Brie - Ah, cake balls will definitely win them over 100%. I'm going to be that girl bringing in cupcakes to work.

  • Wow, a 1-to-1 ratio in the class, I've never heard of that, not even in moderate to severe special education classes.

  • Sarah - I'm not exactly why it's 1:1. These kids didn't act out much at all and they are younger (12/13 at an 8/9 year old level.) Maybe they just need more attention. I guess I'll figure out why!Danielle - Three cheers for clean pee! :)
