Inviting ALL guests to the shower?

Hello everyone. This is my first post, so I hope I don't break any rules :S.. Here is my question: I know that you are supposed to invite ONLY people that are already invited to your wedding to the shower, but I have a variation of this.. What's the etiquette on whether you have to invite EVERY female that is invited to the wedding to the bridal shower? My dad has his boss, or some of his very good friends that I don't talk to that often on the guest list for the wedding. I don't mind that, but I would feel a little awkward to have them at my bridal shower. Is it ok to only invite some guests??? Or should I suck it up and try my hardest to get to know them a little better before then?

Re: Inviting ALL guests to the shower?

  • No, you don't need to invite them.
  • IMO its inapropriate to invite them all (unless your wedding is tiny)
  • It's actually the other way around: You have to invite everyone from showers to the wedding. (Work showers are generally excluded from this rule.) As far as who to invite, just those ladies close to you. Ladies you would feel comfortable spending an afternoon with... If you don't normally see someone socially, but invite her to the shower, it could look gift-grabby. Good luck ;)
  • No, only invite the girls you want!Everyone that goes to the shower, should be going to the wedding though!
