Re: The Duggars: Granduggar birth episode

  • I hope their decision to do a home birth wasn't as last minute as it seemed.  You never know how they edit this stuff together.Oh, and I'd love to have Michelle Duggar as a labor coach.

  • I was actually suprised that they allowed as much filming of the birth as they did, considering how modest they are... Not that it showed nudity, but still...
  • You know, this is a family that I should really be annoyed with, but I just...can't be annoyed with them. I did think it odd that grandma was in the bathroom when she was all vag out giving birth...questionable boundaries. But, I just love that damn family. THERE I SAID IT. I think it's ridiculous ot have 19 kids, but there's just something about them.

  • I agree with the Fish. My thoughts on the Duggars: Not the lifestyle I want, but beautiful in its own way. They have amazing family values, aren't slaves to materialism, and the kids seem to be very happy and well-adjusted.
  • Ah I've been wanting to see that episode. I too like the Duggars. Obviously, I think some of their beliefs and what not are weird but they seem happy

  • ditto sucretsthe last minute homebirth decision bothered mei am pro-homebirth and would love to do it myself but that probably won't happeni don't know if it was editing or what but i never got a clear reason for their decision other than A wasn't "comfortable with other doctors" since hers was OOT.  it never said that they had disagreements with the other doctors so i can only assume that it had something to do with her not wanting someone she didn't know looking up her hoo-ha.  yet they filmed it for TV so i don't know.

  • I agree that I hope they gave some thought about a home birth. The show made it seem like a last-minute decision, but you never know like Sucrets said. Also, I'm not sure what I'd do if the doctor I had worked with for 9 months was out of town and couldn't deliver my baby. I'd probably just go to the hospital and allow someone else to deliver, but I guess it's not what Anna wanted.Fish, I too enjoy that family. They are just too sweet and kind NOT to like.

  • i just think that it made homebirthing look "easy" and that anyone could do it off the cuff rather than going into it prepared and well-educatedif it was truly modesty and naivety, i think it was a dangerous and immature decision

  • I think they're truly good people. I like em too. Michelle is so patient, and I'd love to be a mom like her... even though their lifestyle and beliefs are kind of opposite mine.

  • I'm sure that the home birth was their Plan B all along. Even when Josh called his dad and mentioned it, his dad said, "Well it's up to you guys. You have to pray about it". They were planning to do a natural birth with the doula in any event, so I think the home birth was probably already a thought-out option. I think they edited the footage to make it more interesting...
  • I agree, B.  I feel like they should have put a disclaimer on it about home births.
