Wedding dress too small!

Disclaimer : I already got married so no panicking. I was going to wear my wedding dress for Halloween and figure out something around it. So I tried it on today and it won't fit by several inches! The weird thing is I've only gained about 4 pounds since the wedding, and it won't fit around my ribcage where there isn't any fat.Sigh...guess I'm spending the next week turning it into a corset back and seeing if that will work. Good thing I'm not getting married Friday or I'd be pissssed.

  • Were you working out a lot and then stopped?  Muscle weighs more than fat.

  • Not particularly. I was definitely dieting and working out more pre-wedding to make sure I fit, but nothing drastic to now. I don't suppose the salt from sweating/dry cleaning would have shrunk it?sorry to post and run, but I have to go carve some pumpkins!!!
  • Muscle doesn't weigh more than fat - a pound of muscle weighs a pound, just like a pound of fat does. However, muscle is more dense than fat, so a pound of muscle takes up less space than a pound of fat. As your weight goes up and down, especially as you get older, it can redistribute differently. Even that 4 pounds can make a difference in your shape. Also, not to be crude but... are you sure it's not your boobs that have grown? Maybe some water retention, or time of the month making them take up a little extra material?

  • TJ, I thought I loved you before.  That confirms it.

  • Dh was teasing me that my boobs must have gotten bigger. Which I find strange because I thought going off bc would have shrunk them. Ah well, at least it fit perfectly when it was supposed to!
  • "Muscle doesn't weigh more than fat - a pound of muscle weighs a pound, just like a pound of fat does. However, muscle is more dense than fat, so a pound of muscle takes up less space than a pound of fat. " which means, a square inch of muscle weighs more than a square inch of fat. By volume (which is relevate to dress size), muscle weighs more than fat. Other wise it's saying fancy wine doesn't cost more than water because $5 of water costs the same as $5 of wine.

  • TJ - a pound of feathers weighs the same as a pound of bricks.  Bricks still weigh more than feathers.
