Work vent

Just because I work near the financial aid office does not mean that I know anything about your child's financial aid - or where your child is, for that matter.  That is why my door says "Graduate Admissions."  Please inquire of the receptionist or someone whose door says "Financial Aid."Anybody else have any work vents?

Re: Work vent

  • HAHA, that reminds me of a story at the bank last Friday. There was a man in there who is on welfare. He went to cash his cheque (and the man smells like a drunk ashtray) - but then starts yelling at the teller that his rent isn't being automatically deducted from the cheque! Um...I'm pretty sure that has NOTHING to do with the teller, and I can guarantee it's not her fault that there's hardly enough left after you buy smokes to pay your rent. He got so rowdy that they had to kick him out of the bank.

  • That's a good one, P2.  At least most of the people that come to my office are somewhat polite (even if they're being dumb).  If they were rude, they'd definitely be getting some attitude from me.
  • Nothing specific other then I apparently forgot to hang my "I forgot you're special and the world revolves around you" sign on my door this morning.
  • I am very unhappy at my job and get paid crap. But I stay because I don't have the heart to quit, and I don't know where else I would be able to work besides waiting tables. Man, I'm a Debbie Downer today.
  • mrs_AF - What do you do?
  • I think my boss thinks I'm a flake.  I requested training in one of the applications we use here as a way to get back into development and I kind of got the, "How about you work with Joe for awhile on his project and see how you like it before we put that money into training you."Great.  Thanks.  Because for the past year I HAVEN'T been saying, "Please just let me go back to being a developer."

  • mrs_AF - What do you do?I'm an assistant graphic designer at one of the schools on campus.
  • I'm an assistant graphic designer at one of the schools on campus. Well, it doesn't sound too bad, but I'll take your word for it.  Maybe you could apply for graphic designer jobs at other places that pay more?
  • It's not really that bad, and I'm very lucky to be doing design work as an undergrad. I think it has more to do with the work environment than anything. I don't really get to "create" anything on my own, it's so structured. One typeface, two colors, and a specific size. Kind of stifles any sort of creative freedom. But again, I'm lucky to even have a job right now, especially one that works with my school schedule so well (I have studios 4-5 hours a day every day) so that's definitely a plus. I guess I just have a case of the Mondays. :/
