I just wanted to thank you for posting that Apple Wine recipe the other week. I sent it to my parents and my dad made a batch for our family Samhain dinner this weekend and it was a huge hit! My mom even said she might decide to do the apple wine again at Thanksgiving instead of the usual mulled wine she makes.So thanks again for posting that! It was awesome!

Butting in, but Bubba - do you know where your parents found the 50% vodka? I've looked at a few liquor stores and they haven't heard of it. I hope it's just a country idiots thing rather that not being available in my area.

I looked at the liquor store last week when I was there for something else, and our dark blue labeled Smirnoff isn't 50%. I think I'm going to go the my regular liquor store this week and ask, and they carry EVERYTHING, so if they don't have it, it doesn't exist here. I'm making it for my housewarming party. I'm expecting it to be a huge hit; hopefully there'll be some left when people show up.

LOL GA. Don't drink it all, SHARE :)I wanted to make a batch to test before Thanksgiving, and then I figured I'd make bottles for hostess gifts for the 4 dinners we're going to. What is 50% vodka anyway? Could I just use half as much regular vodka? That's probably too simple

Ah, Vogt, my dad got back to me and said he used standard Vodka as the 50% was too expensive. :P 50% is just purer and has a higher alcohol content, I believe. Sorry I couldn't be of more help! I assure you it tasted fabulous even with standard vodka.
