Help with flowers

I really have no desire to pick out flowers. Our church is beautiful and if we do any flowers for the church, it will just be one or two large arrangements at the alter. I only have on BM so that's just two bouquets. We're using pocket squares for the guys. Maybe a corsage each for the moms (is that right?) and then no flowers for the reception (non floral center pieces). I'm thinking about going into the florist and saying "Here's my budget, give me something pretty". Is this a horrible idea? I just don't have a favorite flower or any preference. Our colors are blue and white if anyone has any suggestions. Oh, and my dress is technically ivory, but looks pretty white to me.

Re: Help with flowers

• When you consult with the florist just tell her your colors and she/he should recommend specific flowers. Mine had a bunch of pics she showed me based on the guidelines I gave her (fuschia and orange, rustic elegance) and I reacted to them.
• I don't see anything wrong with that at all.  Just be sure you tell her your budget because if you leave it up to her, she'll pick the most expensive things just because.

• If your open to purples that might be an idea. My photographer did a wedding and the BM's wore navy blue and their bouquets were purple tuplips...it was gorg! let me see if I can find a pic...
• Blue hydrangeas are fairly affordable and are large so you could probably use single hydrangeas for the bouquets.  I think most florists are pretty flexible in this economy so I bet you could find one who will work with your budget.  Good luck!
• Ask your florist to use flowers that are in season.  They're generally cheaper than out of season flowers.

• I'm open to any and all colors. I'm already worried that we have too much blue and white with everything. Here is the BM dress

• I pretty much just said "these colours, I like roses, daisies, sunflowers, etc"

• Thanks ladies! Now I just have to figure out what our budget will be for flowers...We didn't leave a lot of wiggle room for them because it's the least important thing to us.

• Oh, and most florists are good at coming up with complementary colors too. I told her I was lookign for fuschia & orange, for example, but in reality there were many more colors than that in our flowers.
• Sorry its big, but you need to see all the little pics. Hope this helps!
• RE: mother's corsages-- neither mom wanted a corsage because they're "old lady" (their words), so they each carried a single white rose; that might save you some money too, and they can just carry a single flower that's also in your bouquet.Your BM can do that too, if you'd like.
• Also, I just used ferns on the altar of the church because that's all the decoration it needed. That might save you some money as well; you can probably rent them and then the florist can pick them back up or you can buy them and donate them to the church (if your church would like them).
• I love those BM dresses! My friend wore it in a wedding, and they were so cute, and something that could definately be worn again! Make sure you scroll to the right, so you can see the girls holding their flowers.
• I let her pick out whatever dress she wanted. I just told her the color. I kinda want that dress for myself, its really cute. And thanks for that picture! The purple really does work well and the BM is really small.

• Im glad you like it. I have no idea how much tulips cost, but you wouldn't need many. I actually tried to wear my friends dress to my rehearsal, but it didn't fit :(
