Feeling too mortal - rant/vent

So I officially have been stripped of my "I'm young and nothing bad can happen right?" mentality. Some of you may remember, my great grandmother died earlier this year along with 3 of my pets, now my dog is really starting to act her age which scares me. My mom had cancer when she was my age, now my aunt has breast cancer, uncle has prostate cancer, and my other uncle passed away (a few years ago) from lung cancer. Then a few days ago I find out one of my good college friends has breast cancer and has gone through several rounds of chemo (so far so good). Then last night my dad calls to tell me that one of my childhood friends passed away from Leukemia earlier yesterday morning. 25 is too young for this sh*t to be happening :(

  • I'm sorry you are having a rough time. :( I think Sucrets should FedEx you her last cupcake. :) Cupcakes always make me feel a little better.

  • I think a Sucrets cupcake could save the world. I told the Whompus she had to give me about another 30 years, she looked at me like I was completely nuts.
  • I'm searching for a "Free Cat" box right about now, but if you'd prefer I could just ship him to you.I'm sorry.  That all really sucks.

  • I haven't eaten it yet, but it might be kinda melty by the time it gets to you.Oh, did I tell you that DH was judicious when handing out cupcakes at work?  He said he has some left over, he just forgot them at work.  Woot!I had a huge apple with pb and don't feel so hot.  Early bedtime for me soon since I slept terribly last night.

  • While I haven't had nearly the amount of this stuff happening to me, I've noticed things like that too. I'm also 25. The one I notice way more is people having kids, many of them with multiple ones. That weirds me out since I'm apparently really behind the curve.I'm sorry that you are going through all this. That's gotta be hard to deal with.
Night swimming in the ocean= pretty sweet reception!
  • I totally understand where you're coming from. When I was 23, I found out that a friend from high school had died of ovarian cancer.  23.  I sat next to the girl in orchestra everyday for 3 years.  Mortality hit hard.I'm sorry you're having a rough time right now.
  • The kids thing hit me last year when most of my friends (younger) were pregnant. I also realized that my high school gang all have been married/have kids for at least 4 years now. So weird to think of my "first kiss" having a 4 year old daughter and 2 year old son. Thanks for the support everyone. My dad just got off the phone with her dad and so far they are holding up as ok as they can be. It wasn't a huge surprise because no treatment was working but it still isn't the way you ever want someone to leave this earth.
