I did confirm. She did not remember. I had to put it in writing and give her and some other woman a copy.Today I was sitting in a windowed hallway with my assigned student, reading about earthworms. Another student from my class was outside, trying to punch the head teacher in the gut. He picked up a rock and threw it right at the window and broke it! Thank goodness the window has 2 layers or else the kid and I would have had glass all over us!

Brie - I am still trying to feel out my coworkers and students, and I think they are doing the same for me. It's tough going into a classroom with 4 coworkers who have been there awhile and have their own way of doing things. I don't want to butt heads with anyone, but I'd do some things a bit differently than they do.

Yeah, I totally understand.  It's tough being the new guy, especially when you have your own opinions of how things should be done.  My boss "corrected" me incorrectly the other day and it killed me, but since it was like my 2nd day I didn't want to bring it up.

omg!  I'm so glad you're okay!My cousin worked with emotionally disturbed kids and she would frequently have to wrestle with them.

Just wanted to tell you all hiiiiii and I less than three you all. Sucrets, hope school is going good for you and you're feeling ok Gretchen, I'm soooo glad you got a job and things will get sooner. I have really low-level students with lots of behavior problems this placement (my teacher actually called them the leftovers!) and it was really hard the first week but is much better this week. Week 2 of 8, ahhh! Anna, hope things are going ok for you

Hiya whitsy!  Glad you're getting through school okay.  It'll fly by...and just think about how much you're learning!  A 'regular' class is going to be cake after this!

Definitely true sucrets! It doesn't help that my teacher and I really clash with teaching styles and behavior management. She's definitely a yeller, and she's extremely condescending to the kids. But, of course, I've bit my tongue.

My MS sponsor teacher was a douche.  I knew WAY more than he did, so I just chalked it up as a 'what not to do' situation.  I'm still pissed that they put me with him, but whatever.  I turned out okay.

Oh, but I was vindicated when I had taught a lesson about diction and it was promptly forgotten and not reinforced by him...and then another teacher came in right before the concert and picked out all the things that I had addressed ages ago.

Yeah, he had like 200 kids on the risers, so he wasn't paying attention to me.  That was a great day.God, he's such a douche.  And then I had to work with him for 3 years.  Ughhh.
