Directions

I'm working on the information for our invitation.  How thorough do I need to be with directions?  I know that it is polite to include them, but how many versions do I need?  Hotel to church, interstate to church, and church to reception end up being really long.

Re: Directions

  • You saw mine, so that's my opinion :) I would do the church to reception on the program, if you're having a program. I would definitely do hotel to church and interstate to church, and others can mapquest if they want.

  • I had directions from the two major roads coming into the church (the interstate and the county highway road). I included directions to the reception on my programs at the church. PIB

  • I just did interstate to church b/c we had a shuttle to the wedding from the hotel and it was pretty obvious where the interstate was relative to the hotel.
  • I did ours based from the hotel, assuming local people know where to go.  So I would suggest hotel to church then church to reception.

  • I would give as much direction as you can. Not everyone is computer savvy.... and you don't want guests to get lost the day of... or, for the love of Ceiling Cat, calling you or your in-laws on the day of for better directions.

  • Even with directions, people get lost. I put them on the invite. I put them in the program. People followed the locals from the church to reception. And STILL managed to get lost. One cousin turned around and drove the hour home because he was too proud to stop in the gas station and ask for directions. It's a town of less than 1000. I promise he could have driven around the block another time and found it, or asked ANYONE and they would have given him good directions. People are idiots. :)

  • As a hotel worker who deals with wedding guests a lot, please put hotel to ceremony and hotel to reception. Plus directions to any other wedding festivities. Even if you're not doing oot baskets, it's very nice to just be able to hand guests a pamphlet with directions in them than having to write my own, copy it, and then explain it to each guest I had it to.

  • we didnt do any, and everyone got there fine.  i had a set typed up which i emailed to a few OOT folks, but i didnt want to clutter our invites with the info, especially given in this day and age that most folks either have a GPS or access to a computer where they can get directions.
