How time consuming was it?

How much time did you devote to planning around 4 months out?I will be taking 18-20 credits and working. My young actors group usually puts on a show in the spring. I direct and do most of the other odds and ends. Would this be too much to take on when factoring in wedding planning? How much time did you spend each week in those last couple of months?

Re: How time consuming was it?

  • To be honest, I don't recall, but I don't see why it should interfere with the other stuff you've mentioned.
  • Depends.  I spent 42 hours 1 week doing my invitations.  But I was DIY.
  • I think a show on top of school and work would be too much work.  It is about the time all the small stuff needs to start being addressed.  That is my personal experience, anyway.  I'm at about 3.5 months right now.

  • Zero. I wasn't engaged four months before my wedding.

  • The last couple weeks were the big ones for me.

  • I haven't slept since August. Kidding! I spent about 3-4 hours per day since the beginning of September, but I did EVERYTHING DIY. Decor, table linens, favors, invites, bouquets... you name it. I'm an idiot. Don't do that.
  • For me, exactly zero. I did a solid week's worth of planning the first week of June, let it rest for the rest of June and July, a bit in August (during work, so nothing too time consuming), and got married the 2nd week in September. Really, you can put as little or as much time into wedding planning as you want.
  • About how long will that schedule continue? Right now, I'm at 2 months out, working full time, and taking 11 law school credits in the evening, and while some days I feel like my head is going to explode, stuff actually is happening.  I've been trying to spread stuff out over weekends, b/c nothing gets done during the week, unless its online shopping I can do at work. You will be stressed out, but it can be done. I drink a lot of wine. :)

  • I spent at least 40 hours making and addressing invitations (semi-DIY; I used box kits from Michaels and it still took that long).  Other than that, I was pretty much done at that point.
  • I am DIYing pretty much everything too Bec. In theory, I would try to get it all done before January. This schedule would last until about 5 weeks out. 2 full weeks would be spent in the theatre. My day would basically by 7am-9pm including rehearsal and homework. I've done it before, but never had to factor in this whole wedding thing.

  • Four months out - nothing. I got a ton done the first month we were engaged (8 months out), then didn't have anything to do again until invites went out (about 10 weeks out). It was the last 6 weeks where I had a lot to do.

  • No one can answer this but you. It depends upon what you have finished so far, what you have left to do, how much DIY you're planning to do, how much help you have, and how much red bull you can ingest without ending up in the hospital.

  • I consistently overschedule, mostly because I like to be busy. If I don't direct, the play probably won't happen. If I get the DIY done now, it shouldn't be bad. Good to hear that the wedding won't take up my whole life, though. *Crosses fingers*

  • I don't think I spent much time at 4 months. Venue stuff was already booked, and invites were just waiting to be mailed.I also planned really early because I was working 45-60 hours a week and knew I wouldn't have time.
