Oh boy do I need some computer help!! : (

I just knocked over my laptop...currently using FI's work one.....well the computer is self turns on but the screen remains blank.  Thoughts??  I have been wanting a new computer, but timing isn't right.  How do I get everything from my hard drive off the laptop?

    Dont go to best buy, that's for sure! Find a smaller computer store and they can do a hard-drive back up for around $50 (BB charges 150 I think). They will put everything you want on disks for you. I'm not any help because I had the same thing happen to me :( Luckily it was still under warranty and Dell sent me a new one.

    Mine is pretty old...actually its one I bought from my work, it was out of warranty and sold it to me for $50.  so no complaints there.  Thanks for the tip on a smaller computer store.  I just can't understand why there screen is blank.

    Just reaching in the dark here, but maybe when it dropped, some internal wires or something tore? You could just get the screen replaced probably, but I don't know that it would be worth it in the end.

    the screen might be broken-- they do go out. So you might just need a new screen or the wire in the hinges got messed up.If someone can tell you what is wrong with it you can order parts off of ebay pretty darn cheap(i know nothing bout computers but FI does)
