sorry I have another question.

If you had an isle runner, did you have it down the entire time or just before the bride walked down?I think I want it down the whole time..

Re: sorry I have another question.

  • I had mine down the whole time. It had a tons of rose petals on it. It was one of my favorite details of the wedding.
  • I think they did it just for me. I didn't really pay attention to be honest. It came down to make last minute choices like this and I just said whatever. I was so done making decisions.

  • I think runners are typically down for the whole time. I have only been to one wedding that had an aisle runner and the bridesmaids' heels got caught in it and pulled it all up. It was a mess. I'm sure this type of thing doesn't typically happen though.

  • I would think the entire time. Wouldn't it be a bit of a pain if someone had to run to put it out before the bride came down the aisle?
  • I would think the entire time. Wouldn't it be a bit of a pain if someone had to run to put it out before the bride came down the aisle? At my nephew's wedding, they had someone unroll the runner right before the flower girls came out. I didn't really like it.
  • I agree that it would be a pain to run the aisle runner down right before the bride but it's all I seem to see! love the rose petal idea.

  • Check to make sure your church allows one before you buy one. My friend's sister literally showed up at the wedding rehearsal with it and they told her she could not use it.
  • meh. I know they had some sort of an issue getting it down but it was nothing major. I guess a little bit of it ripped or something. I didn't notice and I don't think anyone else did. It only took a few seconds.

  • Ours was down the whole time. We seated guests from the sides, so they wouldn't walk on the runner before the WP (we had sprinkled tons of leaves on it, plus I painted my runner). Our cousin had two of her groomsmen unroll hers before the WP walked in, it was a disaster. The runner wasn't long enough for the whole aisle (which no one would have noticed if it had already been down, I think), and it got caught on the string, so they had to wrestle with it to keep it rolling. It was kind of pathetic looking and they would have been better without.

  • At my friend's wedding, they had the runner down the whole time.  I was a bridesmaid.  Our heels kept getting stuck in it and tearing holes in it.  Not good.

  • We had the ushers roll the runner down just before the flower girls came out.  It worked just fine, it went along with the music and they finished just as the song was finishing.  There weren't any hang ups, or trouble rolling it out.
  • Our heels kept getting stuck in it and tearing holes in it. Not good.eek.

  • Our heels kept getting stuck in it and tearing holes in it. Not good.Mine did too. When our pastor announced us husband and wife and we started to walk down the aisle I slipped. My husband grabbed my arm really tight so I didn't fall, thank goodness!
  • If you haven't bought it yet, make sure to get a fabric one and not a vinyl one. This should stop heels from going through it. I had a couple of BMs in stilettos and there weren't any holes in our runner after the fact.

  • I think it depends on the quality of isle you get honestly. And how it is designed to roll out. I know that isle couldn't have held up through the whole WP. It was easy to unroll though, which made it okay to do right before the FG went.

  • Yeah, definitely get fabric if you decide to get one.
  • Thanks for the fabric tip.

  • It was out the whole time, or least for the entire wedding party... I don't know if it was out when the guests came in. Oh, and it was made of fabric, so there weren't any problems with heels poking through it. I've never understood why anyone would use a paper one for that reason - not the mention the crinkling noise it would make.
  • We had it down the whole time and had the aisle roped off with a pretty fabric.  The ushers moved the fabric just before the processional started.  Pics in bio.

  • My ushers rolled mine out after they seated the parents.  then only the bridal party walked on it.
