Rec your...

favorite US hotel chain that has a rewards program, please.I like Hilton Hotels, but they're generally kind of pricey--I'm shooting for something around $100-110 a night.  My boss gave me the instructions, "Not a rat trap, but not the Taj Mahal."

  • Don't know...my brother travels a lot and he uses marriott. You may want to reearch them.
  • I'm not sure what their rewards are like currently...but I've always had good experiences with Country Inn & Suites.  Good breakfast, too :)
  • FI and I took a summer vacation last year with hotel points he had accumulated from Hampton Inn.  He does lots of travel for work and always speaks highly of Hampton Inns.

  • I always thought Holiday Inns were kind of dumpy, but I haven't stayed in one in probably 15 years.  Have they changed?

  • Marriottyou can stay at a regular Marriott, Courtyard, Residence Inn, one other sub they have and always count on a clean, neat room. The one in Boston proper is $$ but way worth it for the location and shopping.Their mile system is good, very few blackouts
  • Holiday Inn Expresses are usually very reasonably priced and totally decent. They have the added bonus of being exactly.the.same no matter where in the US you are. Very dependable.
  • I've found Country Inn to always be a good, inexpensive choice.
  • I loved Hampton Inns and Hilton Gardens.  They cater to business travelers. FWIW, a Hampton Inn in Atlanta let me stay for 4 nights with my dog. :) Marriotts are awesome, but they're probably out of your range.

  • Choice Hotels (Sleep Inn, Comfort Inn, etc.)It's not an elegant experience, but the rooms are clean, breakfast is usually offered, etc. Those would be good for smaller towns/cities.When I'm in a major city, I like to stay at Mariott.

  • Holiday Inn Express or Hampton are usually pretty good and not too pricy.  I think Hampton is actually part of the Hilton chain.
  • Four Points by Sheraton

  • Kimpton.  I just reserved a block of rooms at one of their hotels for our wedding.  Love them.
  • I've been to Hampton Inn's from North New Jersey, to Georgia. It's the most reliable hotel for the price that is nice that I've come across. I love Hampton Inn's.
  • J and I did stay and a WAY nice Holiday Inn up in MN back in March - I mean, it was awesome.  Upper end of your price range, J talked them down to $100 for the night, I think. Right on the edge of Minneapolis.  Our choices were that or a rat-trap-ish no-tell motel looking place (the kind that charges per person). I think I sorta played a pouty card. He got his favorite crappy trashy food, I got to stay in the nicer hotel.

  • Hmm, so Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn Express, and Marriotts are all ranking well.  I'll check them out.  Thanks guys!

  • I also really like Holiday Inn Express.  Definitely not dumpy.
  • I trave a lot, and stay at a lot of Hyatts. They're usually pretty good, especially when travelling for work.
  • Hampton Inn is part of the Hilton chain.  I have the rewards card from there. Never earned a reward, but it helped me make reservations a little easier. They are smaller hotels, nice beds, comforters with white duvets (aka, seem cleaner), usually have a fridge in the room, etc.

  • Hmm, I'll have to look at Hampton Inn.  Our wedding block is at a Doubletree, which is also part of the Hilton thing, so it would be nice to get a wedding upgrade.Plus, I'm just partial to Hiltons.  ;)

  • I agree with Holiday Inn Express. My dad (who used to use Super 8 BTW!) now uses those for business and loves them. I stayed in one recently when I had to go somewhere last minute and it was nice. They had a decent breakfast, too.

  • I don't think anyone's mentioned Hyatt, but we've always had a great experience with them.  Some are expensive, but they now have Hyatt Place which is a less expensive Hyatt choice. We also have used Hilton.  My dad travels a lot and he said Hiltons are in most of the destinations he goes.

  • Well, it looks like there's a Holiday Inn Express for $100 half a mile from where I'm having dinner with Vogt.  We have a winner!

  • For $100 range I typically stay at a Hampton Inn, which is part of the hilton family so you get the same rewards.

  • Brie, I'll be happy to give you the full rundown of HIE rewards programs and why we have such awesome hotels :) I also know a little bit about hilton honors and choice, it's a required part of my training. Just email me, I get out of school in about 45 minutes and I'll be happy to answer any questions.

  • My parents were obsessed with staying at Embassy Suites as a child so that is really all I know. It is pretty awesome though that every room comes with a kitchen and living room. I am guessing it is a little more pricey but if oyu have to share a room with some one it is much nicer.
