Not a Reunion (Vent)

I'm still close with a number of my ex-coworkers and a handful or so are invited to the wedding.  For some reason this week a whole other handful have popped up out of nowhere (I literally haven't spoken to these people since December) asking when the big day is and what the plans are.  I seriously feel like they all expect the wedding to be a big reunion for our old company.  Seriously, ex-coworkers, I'd be happy to plan a big ole reunion for all of us on any other day of the year, but my mom will NOT be buying you dinner and drinks on March 20th if I have not spoken to you once since we ceased to work together. Anyone have any suggestions other than my current acting vague approach?

  • i'd tell them the date, and that you are planning a small affair.
  • Or "I would feel bad talking about the wedding with people who aren't invited, so let's talk about something else"Yeah so far I've just been like "It's in March.  So how are things going with you?"  I unfortunately can't really say it is a small/family affair since they probably know I am inviting other coworkers and I'm sure they will eventually hear about it.  One person literally said to me "I'll be keeping my eyes open for my invite" though.  Holy awkwardness.
  • For the life of me I can't understand why people do this!! Hello! McFly! Don't you realize that a)it's rude b)it's awkward and c)you're most likely not invited!?Sorry. I've been in a similar situation and I just don't get it. I don't think I've ever assumed I was invited to someone's wedding except for one, and that was my best friend and I stood up for her.
