Fashion, Canada style...

I went to the mall tonight. I went into old navy and then walked down one hall in the mall to pick up pants being hemmed, then walked back to leave and get in my car. I couldnt have been there longer than 10 minutes, 15 if you consider i tried a shirt on at old navy.I literally saw no less than 21 girls wearing trackpants, just walking around in the mall. I also saw two in very obvious pj pants.Really?! Is this acceptable now? I cant imagine that all of these girls were dressed up like slobs for halloween, so there must be another explanation. Dont you dare say my city sucks either or ill beat you.

• It is at my college. It looks stupid.

• I live in a college town. It sounds par for the course, here.

• I LOVE your city Nebb. My friend's one pet peeve is matching velour track suites. Oh, and crocs, but that's a given. I think the track suit craze is over, though.

• Girls here are always in oversize sweat pants, a sloppy pony-tail that looks like they were drunk when they put it together, with uggs (bonus points if the sweats are tucked into the uggs) and a random shirt.  It HONESTLY looks like they got into a fight with their closet.
• I think I am desensitized by seeing such things daily.

• Huh... well I guess this is pretty common then.
• It's a sign of the apocalypse Nebb
• I doubt you get this down there, cew says she doesnt in NC atleast, but next weeks issue of Macleans magazine has an article about 2012 in it (sort of the movie, sort of the actual thing), it gave me something to think about thats for sure, and no amount of track pants are going to save us.
• I'll have to look for that.  Maybe Barnes & Noble has a copy.  Thanks for the tip. The movie is coming soon. i'm so excited!
• There are lots of women here that do it and it bugs the crap out of me.

• The only time I wear sweatpants in public is if I go to the grocery store after I work out because it is right by my gym.

• Sadly, it is.  The schools I have worked at have all had a "no pajama pants" rule, even my liberal school in NY that didn't really have strict dress code.  It appears we now have to teach kids how to dress appropriately, as well.

• I wear Juicy sweats but I do not wear the matching jacket. I do get kind of lazy and want to be comfortable when I am running around though. I should stop.

• The young 'uns all wear the sweat pants around here too.  They're even worse than the Mod pants that were around a few years ago.
• pajama pants went out in 1999I do love them as well as yoga pants but they don't leave the house
• I'm starting a real hatred for Juicy and think there should be an age limit on jeans that say JUICY across the butt.10 perhaps?
• OMG i forgot all about modrobes. I had like 3 of them in highschool that I wore in public regularly. I also had a full juicy outfit (pale turquoise) that I wore together out in public on a regular basis.
• Im not sure if theyre a canadian thing, but they were HUGE when I was in highschool. I dont even know what kind of fabric they were, this thin cotton/canvas, absolutely shapless.
• According to urban dictionary modrobes are:the most comfortable pants you will ever own! the ultimate post-modern clothing. invented in the late 90s by saldebus, a true canadian renegade marketing guru, the signautre (and best selling style of) post-modern pants are a basic 65/35 poly-cotton blend, which get incredibly soft and comfortable with wash and wear. popular with both the university set and huge in the rave scene, these pants are further distinguished by their buckle clip and webbed belt. they are still the world's best alternative to sweatpants.
• sad add on Nebb,Earlier this weeks I was on a crosstown bus and a woman wearing jeans with JUICY acroos the butt got on.  She used at senior pass to pay the fare.good shape, I hope to look that good when I'm a seniorgood taste, nada
• I also used to wear pants like this in highschool, I did go to raves in them. Mine were khaki and each leg opening was 40" around.
• The words juicy just dont belong on the rear end of a person carrying a seniors card, what on earth is she thinking.
• hahah I DO remember JNCO. I had the misfortune of working in a store when I was 16 that sold "raver" clothes. I dont think I ended up taking home any paycheques I had so many pairs of pants and hoodies. I really liked dubble pants, they were some of the most comfortable pants I ever owned. I regret throwing them out even though I would look incredibly stupid in them now.
• Modrobes were basically just scrubs with a label on them.  I never did understand that trend.
• I remember the raver pants. Oh those were the days.
• Your city sucks. But that's ok, because if bad fashion makes your city suck, my city ALSO sucks.  We'll be sucktastic together.  Or something.

• Btw...when I say Juicy I mean the original pant or the one with the little pockets....not anything that says the name across the butt. In fact I will not wear any names anywhere period. I have them in black, brown and navy. Thats all.
