  • He just wanted to add meatballs to our plated dinner. He didn't think itd be all that difficult to just throw a couple meatballs on everyone's plate in addition to their plated meal. He REALLY wanted a couple of meatballs.

  • He has pretty good taste but he was insistent on how he thinks the garter toss is one of the funnest parts of any wedding. And I have seen him throw his body in the crowd for a garter before. Like he is trying out for a Heisman.

  • His mom went behind our backs and extended invitations to additional family members of invited guests. DH's solution was to uninvite them all, even the invited folks. I thought that was hilarious... and tempting, to be honest. He also suggested the groomsmen wear tuxedo shirts. Uh no. While it would fit their goofy and casual personalities, that was too far for me.

  • If it has the words "hunting camo" in it, it's been suggested. And vetoed.

  • FI thinks our marriage won't be real unless we have people throw stuff at us while we are leaving the reception.  We'll be "leaving" by walking down a flight of carpeted stairs at the hotel.  I am almost positive they won't want our guests to throw a bunch of crap on their stairs.
  • If it has the words "hunting camo" in it, it's been suggested. And vetoed.Good veto-ing.  He will LOVE your garter though!
  • FI wanted to register for a deep fryer.  It's the mental picture of us sitting around, 400 lbs, deep frying all our food that really makes it funny.

  • FI to serve BLTs and potato salad for dinner.  When asked why he thought this was a good idea :"But I like them" My kosher father and his family would love that as our main course
  • DH wanted to play that song they played during the wedding in Old School--Total Eclipse of the Heart with a few inappropriate words. At first I thought he was joking, then he became serious, and then he changed his mind again....

  • We got a mini deep fryer.  One of these days I'll learn how to make my dad's authentic zeppoli.

  • Instead of "chicken" as the "beef or ____________" option, FI wanted salmon (Which IS an option our venue offers). I asked him why and he said "Because I like salmon better than chicken".Me; "Yes, but honey, I think that the VERY few people that don't want the prime rib would rather have chicken".FI: "You know my family eats seafood"Me: "Given the choice between seafood and prime rib, which do you HONESTLY think your family would pick?"FI: "Well, THEY will all want the prime rib, so it doesn't matter ... I just really like salmon better than chicken"...Me "Well, where you planning on GETTING salmon that day?"He said "Well, no, I want the prime rib"*facepalm*FYI: we're getting the chicken.

  • Camo was also brought up...he is a self proclaimed "redneck" so I caved in on something and ordered a camo garter with skulls on it.

  • Ok, so his suggestion wasn't funny, but just that whole "Salmon Soapbox" he was on amused the hell outta me.

  • Yep, and even the garter will more than likely be removed in the hotel room! There is a *slight* chance of camo pocket squares, but I'm having a hard time stomaching it.

  • We had some Manolos last season that were a strappy camo with chandelier crystal double ankle straps. I still have my size hidden somewhere although I can't stomach spending the money and will end up selling them to someone else. Size 8 anyone? Half off the original...only $545 now.

  • FI wanted to register for a deep fryer. We registered for a sausage stuffer. And we got it too.And he wanted our recession up the aisle to be The Legend of Zelda theme. I *may* have entertained the thought had it not been for the Catholic church.

  • Jill, that's hilarious. DH suggested "That Smell" for the garter toss. Vetoed. And we ended up tossing the garter toss. And he registered for a meat slicer. Like we have sides of beef and ham butts on hand just waiting to be sliced.

  • I think I'm the only one with a "weird" request so far.  I want us to be introduced at the reception to the Packers-Vikings Monday Night Football song.  Even FI gave me the side eye at that.

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one!  I think secretly FI likes it too, but he wasn't sure if I was serious or not.  My best friend gave me the smile and nod though.  She's going to perfect that in the next year ;)

  • He would not choose a place that would not serve Coke. He hates Pepsi so when we found the venue of our dreams. That was perfect in every way except when I asked what they serve and oo my god it was Pepsi. he almost did not let me book it but they said they would buy I case of coke to give only to him on our wedding day. (we even had it in our contract it was that important)  We had to pay 72 bucks for one case of coke. That was the most expensive case of coke I have ever paid for in my life, but he had to have Coke and it did not even have alcohol in it.
  • When I was having trouble picking a "swirlie" for the invites, H would just mumble "I told you e-vites were the way to go here".

  • He thought you could rent bridesmaid dresses like you rent a tux. Sigh. We are having a RD/Welcome Party for all our OOT guests (approx 150) and he thinks he should invite all the coaches for the team he works for to the RD/WP but not the wedding. His mother agrees, they think that is better than nothing, and don't understand that it's incredibly rude. I hope he figures out I'm right soon, and those coaches aren't invited to welcome party OR the wedding.
