Bridal Shower Thank yous

So my shower was last weekend and we received a few monetary gifts.  I'm down to the last few thank yous and aren't sure how to word these.  Are we supposed to be using this money toward the wedding, since these people know we are paying for it ourselves?  Are we supposed to use it to"start our lives together"?  How do I say thank you without saying, the American Express gift card will work great to put a deposit down on the limo?!

Re: Bridal Shower Thank yous

  • How about "Thank you for your generous gift. It was great to see you at the shower, and we look forward to spending more time with you at our wedding. Take care! Love, Megan and ???"
  • Honestly, you need to wait to use something like the American Express gift card until after the wedding. God forbid something were to happen and the wedding was called off, etiquette says return gifts, unused. If you use up the cash/gift card, then you would owe them out of your pocket. A lot of people don't really abide by this, because in most cases, people aren't going to expect you to actually return the gifts, but you need to at least have the option the return them.

  • I know that about the gifts, my fiance is complaining daily that we have all this stuff upstairs that we can't use!  Although, for some reason that didn't extend to the money in my mind!  So I guess its time to think of some random thing to use the money for, after the wedding, to put in the thank you card.  It's so hard!  They are all coming out sounding so corny IMO!
