Wording on escort cards.

We are getting our reception details figured out and have a question.  How do you address the escort cards; is it Mr and Mrs blah blah? first and last names? what if someone is bringing a guest and you don't know their name?  Or does each individual person get their own?  We are using rocks, since we are getting married at Starved Rock, with the names of places we have visited as table markers instead of numbers.I'm interested to hear what others think.  Thanks,Patti

  • We did Mr and Mrs X.  For my 1 guest that didn't know who he was bringing until the last minute, I just wrote and guest.  For everyone else, I found out the name of their date and wrote it down.Have you ever been a "and guest"?  It kinda sucks.

  • I think the Mr and Mrs vs. first and last names has a lot to do with how formal you want it to be. There's no wrong way to do it.You should call your guests and find out the name of their dates.
  • I agree w/ pp to try and find out the names of the guests.  It really does suck being the "and guest".
  • Thanks for the replies so far.Actually, I think there is only a few people I have to find out about the guest, so that's not a big concern.  My main question was does each person get their own rock, or do we do couples?
  • I always thought you did one per person. I have never seen anything different anyway.
  • Depends - if you're doing assigned seat, then it's 1 per person.  If you're just assigning tables, then 1 per couple/family is fine.

  • I prefer first and last names... I'm one of those women that don't like losing my name simply because I'm married. But I never minded being "and guest," so I guess we all have our preferences!
