How big is too big?

I'm talking about signature pictures (sorry to disappoint!). Do we have some sort of consensus around appropriate sizing?

I think typically it should be around 250-300 width, but that also varies depending on how long it is.  Plus, occasionally when pics are that small, I can't tell what's going on, so I don't mind them being bigger.

I think that MrsB advocated the bar rule awhile back--if at any point, the bar starting your siggy and the bar starting the next post aren't both visible in my screen, it's too long.I try to follow that.

I agree with Arb.  I won't do larger than 300 and if I have a bunch of quotes in my sig I'll do the pic at 150 or 200

I just went with the choice on tinypic, that's the only way I know how to do it. It was the webstite/email, 320x240. I think it is definitely big enough, maybe even too big.

Does that not relate to resolution and screen size, though? Which is individual depending on the system you're using?

I limit mine by height (I think I stick to 230 or so, can't quite recall now).

Eh, I usually have my internet browser taking up only half my screen, so the bar rule wouldn't really apply to what I'm looking at specifically, but everyone here is fine!When I use photobucket, I usually just reset the picture to size "medium" which is 300 something by 200 something.

And big pictures don't bother me as much as signatures with three tickers, two pictures, a blog link and a quote, where it all jumbles together and doesn't even look good laid out.

TnJ's signature is the type I hate. Too much stuff, no breaks so it all runs together with the non-Knot TV version, and it include a badge.

I keep mine at 250, especially since I also have two links in my siggy.

300 is good if it's a good picture and suitable for the knot.  I find random siggy pictures annoying unless they're funny.

At my job I cant even see pictures and thats the only time I use the knot so I have no idea how big my picture is. Sorry let me try to fix it. Thanx!
