Ceremony Readings

So we want to have a humorous reading at our ceremony.  It is entirely non-sectarian.  My question is....how do I incorporate this into the ceremony?

I think you have to be cautious about humor during a wedding.  Especially if it is secular, you don't want to make something so important a joke.

Ask your officiant for an idea of where readings might fit best into the ceremony.  They'll be the ones most familiar with what works and what doesn't. I like the idea of doing something light in the readings, but you have to do it right - have the right reading and the right reader.  Again, your officiant might have ideas for what works and what doesn't.

Yeah, I'd be careful with this.   Wedding ceremonies/vows are a pretty big deal, and if you put in something totally ridiculous a lot of guests, especially older ones, will think that you're not taking the start of your marriage seriously, which you should.   Have you picked out the reading?  Can you share it if you have?

There are a ton of readings in my Bio.  Not sure any are necessarily humerous, but some are very cute.  All are not religious.

We wouldnt do anything distasteful.  But we want the aura of the ceremony to reflect us and our personalities.One I like is not really humorous, but sweet.......from SATC called "His Hello was the End of her Endings" His hello was the end of her endings Her laugh was their first step down the aisle His hand would be hers to hold forever His forever was as simple as her smile He said she was what was missing She said instantly she knew She was a question to be answered And his answer was “I do”The other, we have a few we're thinking of

We did "I like you" by sandol stoddard and it went over GREAT. It was funny and cute, and we had at least ten people ask us for copies of it afterwards. We had it towards the end, I think, before the rings.
