NWR: I'm Tired of Shaving...

my legs. And I've never liked waxing or the Nair creams. Has anyone tried any of the permanent methods with success? Laser, etc.?

Re: NWR: I'm Tired of Shaving...

• au naturale!!
• Yuck, Nebb, yuck :)
• I'm Swedish and have very little body hair.  I shave my legs every couple months in the winter and no more than once a week in the summer.

• heh, sorry. I wouldnt do that either. I dont mind shaving but I only use the schick intuition razor so I dont have to mess around with cream.
• wow.. My hair grows fast. I have to shave every day & sometimes twice, if i want to show my legs for dinner.

• I'm going on three weeks without shaving my legs now.  Is that gross?
• Shaving twice in one day?  Wow.

• Well, I'm not Swedish and my hair doesn't grow as fast as RedHead's... I probably should shave 2-3 times a week. Maybe a little more in the summer...
• My hair grows super fast. I have to shave everyday and often I'll be prickly again by bedtime. I do know with some laser hair removal it wont get rid of blonde hairs. so, if you have any blonde (even mixed in with your dark hair as I do) it will leave those behind so all you have is peach fuzz.
• I have to shave every day too! The laser is not *truly* permanent and it's painful.
• oooh - me, me! I've lasered a few of the annoying spots. Haven't tried my legs (yet) but I've been VERY happy with the results elsewhere. Keep in mind that the darker your skin/hair, the better the results will be. So you'll still have to shave any peach fuzz, but you won't have to deal with the thick, dark hairs. It also takes more than one visit to get rid of the hair - I'd say about 4-5 at least!
• But it's NO SHAVE NOVEMBER!
• Have you tried those shave minimizing lotions?  I think there's one at most drugstores here (not sure about Mexico) by Jergens.  I've used it in the past and it's increased the time between shaves by a day or two.

• Nebb--love the Intuition! I shave every couple days. Though now it's getting colder, I can let it slide a little. Expat--did you guys celebrate Dia de Los Muertos yesterday?

• Laser hair removal can cause scarring so I would be careful with that...

• Brie - I could probably find that here, or if not in Texas. Good tip :) Pirata - No, we didn't! And I was disappointed :( I asked DH about it, and he said that we'd already done Halloween... Sadly, the American holiday seems to have upstaged the Mexican one. I was looking forward to both. But they were selling the special bread and offerings in the supermarkets, so someone must have celebrated!
• I've done laser.  No issues, great results.  I love it & would recommend it.  I was also very, very picky, and found a place run by two nurse practitioners who have years of experience in dermatology.  It doesn't remove blonde hairs, so I shave underarms about once a week and legs about once a month.

• Expat--Bummer!!!  Would have loved to hear about it!  Tell DH I am very disappointed!  I have a Dia de los Muertos hoodie, I wore it yesterday.  I was out in LA a few years ago shortly after DDLM, and we went to Hollywood Forever Cemetary--it was wild to see all the DDLM set up at different graves and even in the mausoleums.  I think the holiday is awesome.  America is so glum about death. I also have a decent collection of Our Lady of Guadalupe items.  Tshirt, prayer cards, prints, candles, necklaces.  And I am not even Mexican. But I think I was in a past life or something...

• I've had waxing done (brazilian and underarms) and it really slows down the hair growth aferwards. Only one of my armpits grows hair- very slowly. My left armpit has nothing. I can never remember to ask my DR about it.
• Has anyone tried that glove that supposedly rubs the hair away? I can't remember what it's called but I've seen commercials for it.
• I had my first laser treatment a couple weeks ago. It was surprisingly comfortable for the area I had treated. It works best on light skin with dark hair. Blond hair is had to laser. Darker skin tones require a different laser that is not available at many laser spas.

• vic, I did. Once. It's basically fine grain sandpaper. I did it on my neck. Never again.

• Oh, btw, I find the pain level with laser to be very similar to waxing.  The place I go puts cold packs on first, which is worse than the laser zap, really.

• When I don't feel like shaving I just tell Dh I'm feeling "hedgehoggy".I tried the shower Nair once and it didn't work at all. I forget the brand of my razor but it's one of those "cream in the razor" (not Intuition) and it makes me very happy. I think it's one of the Venus lines. When I was younger I had used the electric razors, those won't too bad.
• I'm doing laser on my, um, bikini line. I've had 3 treatments of ten, and am already having great results. It's expensive, but not having to wax all summer was just awesome.
