the dress...

Several months back, I found a dress that I was sure was "the one". While I still like it, I'm no longer in love with it.Now I'm really loving in Maddie by Melissa Sweet (link to dress http://bit.ly/2yPUkH), which is the dress with a million little bows on the bottom.I'm going to see it this afternoon and I'm nervous. Its more than I wanted to spend. But mostly, I'm afraid that history will repeat itself and I will wake up one day and not like it anymore. The most annoying part is, that I'm not a wishy-washy, indecisive person. I'm not used to feeling this way!Should I go for it? will I regret it later? any words of wisdom would be appreciated!

Re: the dress...

  • So you've already bought a dress? Or no?

  • Try it on first. You've got a ways to go yet, so if you don't love it, you can keep shopping. But if you DO buy it, DO NOT CONTINUE SHOPPING. I'm serious. Too many 2-dress brides on these boards. I got my dress, chose it in 2 hours, loved it, and didn't look at any others. Done.
  • I think you should sit on it a few weeks. I hated my dresses and put ads up to sell it, then I decided to turn the dress into what I really want. This happened over a few months. PS I love your blog.
  • Did you already buy the other dress? If not, there is nothing wrong with changing your mind.  If you did already buy it... STOP LOOKING AT OTHER DRESSES it will ALWAYS make you second guess yourself.

  • no. I haven't bought anything. I met with the designer of the first one and ALMOST committed to buying it. Luckily I didn't, cause now I've changed my mind.but if I fall in love with this dress today when I try for the second time, I may want buy it.

  • My advice is buy the one you LOVE and then don't look at any more dresses because there will always be gorgeous dresses out there, and you just don't want to put yourself in that position. How different from the original is "Maddie"? I have to say, I don't know about all the little bows.
  • eeeek sorry. Didnt realize how big it was (TWSS)

  • Cute dress and I also like your blog.
  • Oh ok. Well I think the dress you posted here is adorable, but I think dresses like that, it helps to be tall and skinny, because the length is going to hit you funny, and that shape is not very forgiving. I'm not sure what you look like though, so you could be tall and skinny :)

  • I'm a big believer in not trying on dresses that are over your budget. I'm not saying not to try on other dresses if you haven't yet bought one, but if you're not comfortable with the price, don't even bother with it.

  • The dress is the least important part to me, so I'm answering this from that perspective.  I realize there will be a bazillion pictures of it and that you'll remember your dress forever, etc. My advice though, is to take a few weeks and not dress shop and come back to it with fresh eyes.  And pick it knowing that you'll only wear it once for a few hours.

  • the first dress was also tea-length. It is the Lucile by Stephanie James Couture (http://bit.ly/XQiGC). Its beautiful, but very simple and I decided I wanted something more exciting.

  • well, I'm not tall and skinny. but I'm positive tea-length is the most flattering on me. I never wear anything to the floor and I don't want to start on my wedding day. This is my second time trying this dress, so I have already taken a 2 month breather and hoped that I would find some clarity. As far as cost, it is more than I wanted to spend, but not so much that its a deal breaker. My wedding is still almost a year away, so I can save a little extra on the side to make up the difference.I know the bows are a little outrageous, but I love them! and I've always been one to try and have fun with fashion.PS- thanks for the blog-love girls ;)

  • I like the picture of the Melissa Sweet dress better, but I'm concerned about how those bows would look IRL.  Try it on.
  • I like Lucille. You could always add a colored sash to jazz it up. Jospehine is also gorge. You don't like Fifi? :)What will Irene be wearing?
  • georgiw- fifi's a little much ;) even for me. Irene's wearing a suit, not sure what color.fang - have seen it many times in person and its gorgeous

  • Oh, I always think the Maddie is so cute.  I never tried it on while I was shopping.  FWIW, I went through a spell of really second guessing my dress.  Turns out, it was actually totally perfect for me and everyone else loved it too.  I think sometimes we just get overloaded with so many dresses (and it's not like you can just wear another one on a different day if you change your mind) that you always end up with a little bit of dress envy.
  • Well, it seems to me that Maddie is actually "the one", wouldn't you say? And it's natural to have a bit of dress regret; I know I did (I really wanted a full lace dress like lpstl), but I still love how my dress pics turned out, so if you're sure now, do like I said and buy it and then forget all other dresses exist.
  • thanks for the support guys. I'm going to try it on againa t 5pm.I'll report back.
