Dear Toyota Service Department Guy

Thanks for being such a big bag o'douche.  It's really nice that I brought my car in for a brake change only to find out that your maintenance guys didn't check them before I bought it.  And they also didn't check the Master Brake Cylinder, which caused an abundance of unnecessary issues.  Thanks for telling us that your department would cover the cost of the brakes and the warranty would cover the master brake cylinder, and then sending on my way without a car for four days. And thanks, Toyota Service Department Guy for calling me today and telling me that, no, you actually won't pay for the  brakes and no, the warranty won't cover the master brake cylinder, but will cover anything else.  So, thanks, for telling me that I owe you $265.00.Finally, thanks for finally being a little nice after my complaint to your department, by offering to pay 50% of the cost.  I really freakin appreciate it.Thanks,Katie(sorry for the long vent)

  • Call Toyota's National Customer Service line.  They'll do something for you.

  • I may do that.  This guy was such a PITA.
  • Ditto smokey.  Toyota is usually really good about Customer Sat.  I'd plead my case with the national people.  And be sure to name names.  :)

  • Complain to the service manager and your sales person.  They WILL take care of it.  Tell them that you will not have it serviced there in the future if for some reason they hesitate.  Be overly nice about it too.  I worked at a Ford dealership during college and then a Honda dealership.  They're easily manipulated.
  • Well I spoke with the national customer service line and they said that I will have to talk with the local guy, so that's my next call! I've had no complaints up until today with Toyota, and I hope to keep it that way.  le sigh.
  • When did you buy the car?Saturn once told me that my broken driveshaft (that wouldn't shift when I started the car without a GREAT deal of effort) was probably cause by me. Like, I spilled something in it. Sorry, *shrug* warranty won't cover it. $350 later... But that's Saturn. Not as good as I thought they would be.

  • We bought it in June and it would occasionally make a weird noise, and that started about the time that we bought it.  I know nothing about cars, so I left it to FI, and he said it was nothing.  Then the brakes started to do that horrible squeaking just recently, so we took it in Saturday just for a brake change.  Well, great news! It was the master brake cylinder. So, I don't know what they're going to do, but I have a call in to the customer relations manager right now and I'm waiting to hear what he has to say.  If I have to settle with them just doing the cost split, oh well.  It's better than dishing out all of it.
