Well, really we wanted the Sat before the Kentucky Derby, but Keeneland is open then, and it's the Rolex Kentucky 3 Day Event, which is the prep for the FEI World Games (the Olympics of horses, and first time it's outside of Europe) and hotels were redic.  Derby weekend was out for SO many reasons.  So, we landed on the Sat after.Oh, wait, it's cause I wanted to copy the COOLEST bride on the May 2010 board.  BRIE!

I make fun of FI's accent all.the.time.  But to his face, so it's cool.  He LOVES it when I call him Maaahhkk instead of Mark.pinot, I have a new fav drink.  1.5 oz guava rum, .75 oz triple sec, 2 oz sour mix, 2 oz cranberry.  (That's the ingredients I had for the drinks that Lynda mentioned.)  It is AWESOME.  And FI agrees.  And I thought that before I was KUI.  And I'm picky.  You should try it.

Brie, I tried to today.  And it made me suicidal.  There's no way I could be nice enough to not be an absolute biitch in their eyes.  We should stage a coordinated coup.  Along with LVB, who is the weekend after us.  It would be AWE-SOME.

So D later told me that when Mark introduced himself, he really thought he said Mach. And he spent like 10 min trying to figure out how he spelled it. And then he said AAAAhhhmy and he figured it out. HAHAHAHA.

LVB, you should hear how FI says his name when he tells people over the phone or at restaurants here (for the waiting list).  Maarrrrrrrrrk.  I swear, I'm engaged to a pirate sometimes.  My last name has "arn" in it.  He can't come close to pronouncing it right.  Ever.  At all.  I hate it to begin with, so I'm dropping it and keeping my middle, but I'd likely do so anyway just because I never want to hear his mispronunciation again.

I am awful at volleyball ( and most sports) Can I ask you for volleyball advice?Our date is also May 8th, and the puppies/rainbows on May 10 board are overwhelming to me as well.

Yep, this is just cheap cruzan guava rum.  MUCH less pricey than my expensive vodka, which has been my goto previously.Preppy, you can ask anything you want.  My school team has finally started getting better (it was BAD when I started there).  I think I've forgotten half of the high-level drills I used to do.  I've been coaching really tall 7th graders, it feels like.  LVB, I agree!

cew is on the 8th too.  Which is funny, because there's practically no May 8th brides on the May 10 board.Usually they're harmless and super-happy and I can't bring myself just to make fun.  If someone's being outright rude or offensive I'll say something, though.

Brie, the post I looked at today was a SQUEE-fest, and I had to choke back my breakfast.  Oatmeal on my desk would have been bad.  I mean, my dress fits WITH NO ALTERATIONS but a hem.  And I didn't squee about it.  Wait. . . maybe I just did. . . Crap.

Why are the volleyballs so hard and terrifying? I'd like it more if they were more beach-bally.

They're not so hard.  4.5 to 6 lb is the max allowed in a real volleyball.  If you've just "met" a beach volleyball, they suck.  They're bricks.  I hate them.  Get an indoor ball.  Oh - take a small step backwards.  Really.  If they're scary, they're probably gonna hit you above your elbow, which it shouldn't.  6 inches backwards will be MUCH better.  But - I've been hit full in the face by a girl who was trying out for the Olympic team.  Yeah, I should have passed the ball with my arms.  But, to be fair, she was on a different court.    And, we both lived to tell the tale.  Much better to be hit by a VB than a baseball.

haha OK, thanks for the advice. Fi's cousin is trying to get on the Canadian Beach team for olympics and is always having volleyball themed fundraisers at which i'm forced to play.I hope you're enjoying the rum punch

The rum ROCKS.  (See my earlier post about crappy family - it has been a LONG day.)I LOVE volleyball.  Try to find a local league.  Most places that host them have bulliten boards for people looking for a team.  Girls are in short supply for co-ed teams.  I've been so busy coaching the last few years I haven't played much on my own.  I need a new team.    It's an awesome sport.  Yes, I'm biased.  But - you can play for a LONG time, at what ever level you're comfortable with.  There are leagues for older folks that prohibit diving, etc.  Personally, I LOVE playing in a mens league.  First time I see a team, and they make some sort of "Aww, look at the girl. . . I bet it's an easy serve!".  I FLATTEN them.  Really.  I'm a coach.  I put 1000 serves a week in play.  Kiss my butt.  Ok, sorry, off my anti-social coaching soapbox.

Ah. At least its not a Jersey accent! Those drive me nuts, but usually because they talk over me with their annoying accent. I love British accents. DH thinks he is British stuck in an American body. He loves British car shows, British music, etc. He was thrilled when he found out that his heritage is mostly British.

I swear, sometimes, esp. when he's tired, drunk, or on the phone, he might as well be speaking Russian.  And I know a few words of Russian!

Squirrly, i feel the same way about FI and his Texan accent. Sometimes I just look at him and am like, is that an actual word that just came out of your mouth?

His attempts to speak German are worse.  (He was stationed there for 2 years.)  I respond with "eego de non desu ka"  which means "In English, WHAT?"  I took Japanese for several years.  It is more intelligible than Boston-English sometimes.
