new chat board problems

am I the only one not enjoying this new chat board?  it takes forever to download to respond to anyone.  so much time wasted.  not fast at all - maybe too much graphics.

Oh well.

I TOTALLY AGREE!!!!!  It is so annoying!  I have a mac and it keeps telling me that it can't find internet plug in every 2 seconds for that stupid video.  I can't ever seem to stop it from trying to play...it takes forever.  I thought I was the only one who was totally annoyed :-)  Anyway, Happy Holidays and planning too!

The boards were fine the way they were before - not it stinks.  I find myself using less of The Knot, which is probably not the intended consquence looked for but it's just too annoying.  I use other chat boards a bit more now.

I AGREE -- is anyone out there listening? I don't even bother to go on any more - its been days and that's strange for me.

Go back to the other way.

This is too difficult to keep open on my desk top at work - its tooooooooo slow and toooooooo many graphics.

Please put it back!!!!!!!

If you right click on the title of the board and open it in a new window the video should go away.

Right click on just the message board part, highlight the url in "properties" and c&p that into your browser.  Then bookmark that page - it should be the message board without the TV (which annoyingly does keep trying to reload every 10 seconds even after you click collapse).

I agree, this new format is really pretty bad.  I am trying to stay positive and hope that it just takes some getting used to, but there is so much going on on the screen that my old computer can't handle it.  It takes FOREVER for the page to load (even without the tv) and I'm finding it hard to even just do my mod duties (check the threads for vendors). 

I could imagine that if I was a new bride, I would see this crazy, non-user-friendly format and not stay very long.  This board has been struggling for a while, I fear this format change could be the final nail in the coffin.... :-(

I just don't understand why they didn't use the format of the Nest.  It has all the bells and whistles this site was trying to get, but it functions 1000x better.

thank you julezlee and mrs kocal... i have a mac too and the stupid plugin comment comes up every 5 seconds and makes me want to pull my hair out.  i will use my saved bookmark from now on!!

you can also hold down the shift key and click on the "new york-new york city" and it opens without the video. 
I really don't like this format at all.

I totally agree.  I thought that the slowness was just at home but my office has T1 and T3 lines and it is dreadfully slow.

I used to love coming on this board and now I hate it.  I rarely come on now. I miss the way it was.

I agree that the Nest's interface works much better. I'm happy to have new features, but some of these bugs are nearly unbearable.

Completely different layout with NO FLASH or VIDEO. I used to go to theknot.com, then navigate to the boards, then deal with the stupid video load problem and curse at my computer for 10 minutes, and then open the frame in a new window when it finally decided to let me do anything. From then on it would be ok, but it was still too annoying to get to that point. So I stopped using the knot. Then I discovered this other portal, which leads straight to the NYC knot, but with a different interface and without all the junk.
