My fiancé and I are getting married in Las Vegas.  The wedding is going to be just the two of us.  However, we are having a brunch reception the following weekend.  I need help in wording the invitation.  First, I want to make it clear that the wedding has already occurred and second I want to let people know that the reception is a come and go type event.  Here is what I am thinking.    Mr. and Mrs. My Parents request the pleasure of your company at an open house brunch celebrating the marriage of their daughter Me to Fiancé Saturday the tenth of April two thousand ten from ten o’clock  until one o’clock at Brown-Pusey House Elizabethtown, Kentucky   My problem is that line three is really long.  Any ideas?  Please let me know what you think.  Thanks!

Do you have the option of making line 3 two lines?  Otherwise seems fine to me.

It sounds okay to me.  Open house signifies come and go to me.  If you're worried about that line being too long, how about putting "celebrating the marriage..." on a separate line?

I think you can remove "open house" and just say "at a brunch."  I wouldn't automatically know it is "come and go" though - I think the overall formality of the wording makes it sound more formal.

When I first saw your title and the word "Vegas" i thought you were inviting us all to your wedding. Seperate open house and celebrating.

I would put "celebrating the recent marriage...." or something of the like.  Never underestimate the stupidity of people.  I would be sure to spell it out that the wedding has already happened.

I would drop the "Open House" state it this way request the pleasure of your company for a brunch celebrating the marriage of their daughter "Me" to Fiance.

Cut OPEN HOUSE.  Cut UNTIL ONE O'CLOCK. Your parents are hosting a brunch which begins at ten o'clock.  With everyone there.  At one time. No one is going to arrive at 11:00 or noon or 12:30, and sit down with people who are already through eating, or sit in the places where people WERE eating earlier. People need to arrive at one time, be welcomed at that time, and begin eating together, etc.

Believe it or not the name of the place is really the Brown Pusey House.  My fiance can't wait to tell all his friends!  Thanks for all of your help, ladies!
