Wanna see

What it looked like yesterday at the airport?  http://edition.cnn.com/2010/TRAVEL/04/16/iceland.flights.volcano/index.html?hpt=T1

I was at Frankfurt.  First two photos are of there.  And yea, I was standing in that line for train travel.

Re: Wanna see

  • Yeah, that's insane.  I can't imagine the amount of chaos this is causing.

  • They're saying it's the most travel disruption ever since 9/11.

Amoro, do you have your apartment in Italy long enough to deal with this if you can't get out of town for a while?

  • Yup!  We have another month, so we're all good.  I'm telling H we're driving when we move up there.  Hell with flying!
  • I would complain about that

  • There are probably more people in that photo than there are in my town. Ugh.

  • Well, this would be terrible if it were in Cleveland, but since you were stuck in awesome GERMANY, you should be THRILLED.  Just to have the experience.

Oh good!  I wasn't sure when the official move was happening.

See, totaly legit complaint. My only flame? You actually stayed on your feet for 9 hours. Eff that. My ass would have been on the ground after the first 20 min.

    BAHAha!

Oh, LVB, there was a point where shoes were off, and I was walking around in my socks, and then I sat down for a bit too.  Then there were the super nice people who watched my bag while I sat down for a bit.  Course, they put some meth in it, but that's okay.  I used that to make me less stressed.

  • Ugh, that's awful. One of my coworkers is stuck in Brazzaville (republic of Congo) with no friends, no reading material left (the only books you can buy there are in french, which he can't read), no consistent internet, no real opportunities for leisure activities, and no way to get back to the states.

I'd be very drunk right now.

Do they still have alcohol available at the airport, Amoro?

INDEED THEY DO.  I realized once I'd gotten into line, that I should have bought one of the smaller bottles of wine and drunk that.  But, they had crates and crates of water and juices and soda available for us to have at will, so that was a bonus.
  • Oh God, that is awful. I got stuck in Heathrow airport for roughly 36 hours during an air traffic controllers strike. Well, I did call a family friend and I crashed at his flat for the night. thought it was great fun, an adventure. Of course, I was only 14 at the time. My parents were just about frantic by the time I got on a flight.
