Friday morning vs. Sunday morning wedding

Help!  I am extremely indecisive and can't decide which would work better for people, a Friday wedding or a Sunday wedding.  Our budget only allows us to pick one of these days.  Our budget also determines the time for our venue which would be 11am ceremony and reception from 11:30 to 3:30pm.  Thanks for the input!!

Re: Friday morning vs. Sunday morning wedding

  • People wont take off friday to go to a wedding.  Sunday they will hopefully be off work for the day.
  • If you could do a Friday night, I would vote that, but as you can't... I'd do Sunday morning.

Sunday.  A Sunday wedding might give out of towners a chance to get back home in time for work Monday, and they wouldn't need to take a vacation day, but a Friday wedding, especially during the day, means they definitely will need a day off.
  • For me, a Sunday morning wedding would be a lot more attendable. More people are likely to have a Sunday off than a Friday morning off.

  • I'd pick Friday night over either one, but if morning is the only option, I'd definitely go for Sunday over Friday.

I'd do Sunday morning, out of your options.  Sounds like you have the ceremony under control- and if church is a concern for any of your guests, you could look up some local churches and their Saturday evening/early Sunday masses.

  • Fridays are really tough, even for my bf who has off on Fridays. A vast majority of my friends and family have work on Fridays. I'd be asking a A LOT of people to take off that day from work and possible the day before, too, if they have to travel. If that sounds like the issues you'd run into, OP, then I'd go with the Sunday.

  • Thanks all for the input!  I guess it is an inconvienance to ask pretty much everyone to take a Friday off.  I was leaning towards Friday because our engagement party was on a Sunday and everyone seemed in a downer-Sunday mood and left early...

I dont' think you'll get a different reaction from the guests on a Friday.
The thing is, that was an engagement party... this will be the actual wedding. People might be in a better mood, kwim?

  • Friday night is better than either morning IMO.  To choose between the two, I would go with sunday morning, it is more convient for your guests.

  • Unless you were family, or one of my two friends that I've known for more than 20 years, I would not take off work to attend your Friday morning wedding.  I agree with the others who said Sunday morning is your better option of the two you listed.  I'd prefer a Friday night over either morning.
  • For religious reasons, I would not attend a Sunday wedding.

We're having our wedding on a holiday Monday. The vendors we chose didn't offer not-Saturday discounts, but other ones we looked at did.

<div>What about your family and VIPs? Do they have a preference? I know for my family, Friday morning would not be possible, but Sunday morning definitely would. I can see a different family thinking the opposite, if they're church goers, or work retail on the weekends.</div>
