Do they get an invite?

Do I send my photographer and wedding planner official invites?  I mean, they will be there either way, but I don't want to be rude if it's customary for them to get one...

  • No, the only "vendor" you typically send an invite to is the officiant.
  • No because they are paid vendors, not wedding guests.

Even though it isn't necessary, I plan on sending one to a couple of my vendors (my photographer and my caterer, who is also helping with some of the day of details), just because I feel my invites are a good example of the vibe I am going for, so it might help them in knowing what style I have going into it.

(Sorry, not really an answer to the actual question about the etiquette of it, just a random thought.)

What if we need meal selections?  I'm planning to send invites to our vendors since the RSVP is necessary for meal choices.  Otherwise, I wouldn't bother either.
  • I am sending one to our DJ, Officiant, and Photographer. Our DJ is a friend, but was technically never invited, he is there for "services".  Our Officiant is a friends mom and I was told that you were supposed to send them one anyways. She is sending it to him and pictures afterwards (he lives in Japan).  Our Photographer has become a friend of mine, she is a year older than me and really sweet.  We get along great, and have now become friends because of the wedding, she is helping with a ton of stuff other than just photography.
