Cake boxes?

What did you use for extra cake for guests to take with them?  And what size were they?

  • I've got nothing---except that I want cake now.

  • I was just looking at pics of my cake and now I want some too :(  We didn't have any leftover.

  • I've found two chinese takeout boxes that are possibilities.  Mostly I've just seen wax paper-y things like what you get soft pretzels in at ball games, which is MESSY when there's icing involved.

I don't think we'll have a lot extra, but there should be some.  Plus we have canoli's for groom's cake and then people could take those, too.

  • We had no leftover cake. But we did serve our top tier for dessert at our day-after picnic. Yum!

  • There are things like this:

Or you can just get small paper plates and tin foil. Cheap and easy.

<div>I'm not sure why, but I got a mental image of a piece of cake being placed into a zip-lock bag--thus ruining the integrity of the cake. But then I pictured cutting a hole in the corner of the bag, and squeezing the cake straight into my mouth--and I'm okay with that. </div>

  • I knew what you meant---and it made sense, but for some reason I kept thinking about cake in a bag...and then squeezing said cake out of said bag. I think in stupid ways some times.

    You think like Shelly sometimes.
Squirl-- have you asked your venue if its something they have?  If a guest asked them to wrap up a piece of cake for you?

  • We're providing cupcake boxes to our guests, as the cupcakes are freaking huge and people probably won't eat them there after apps, a full dinner and late night snacks being offered.  So at least they can take them home.  Because seriously, they are the bombass cupcakes.

If I wanted to hear the pitter-patter of little feet, I'd put shoes on the cat. image

  • Shelly, this is the first wedding our venue has had.  <INSERT PANIC HERE>  So, they don't have a lot of stuff like that.  They also aren't charging us to slice & serve the cake.  Tradeoffs.  But, they just got a new chef from a venue that has held thousands of weddings, and he was specifically on the "event" team, not just the regular restaurant team, and he's taking over stuff on their side.  So, it will be ok.  But, no, they don't have any boxes.

  • God I want cake now.  And squeezing it out of the corner of a bag seems pretty tasty!
  • We didn't. Our baker told us to order less than what we needed because not everyone will eat cake, even if you think they will.

There were some slices left over and we just asked the venue for a to-go box for us to take to our hotel room. But our venue was at a hotel, so they already had them.

I wouldn't get giant boxes. Are you wanting something fancy or a standard takeout box?

  • The white ones above are $12 for 50 boxes, and they're 5 x 4-1/4 x 2-1/2".  I figure that's enough for cake and/or canolis, if anybody wants to take some of those.

  • Try this site:

We ordered all of our boxes from there and they were great...  I even ordered boxes for Christmas cookies this year ;)

Oh, dear God. My mother called me a week before the wedding and yelled and cried because I didn't have cake boxes and, 'EVERY WEDDING I'VE EVER BEEN TO HAS HAD CAKE BOXES!'. In the end, she and my sister made some slip sort of things for me... which on the night didn't even fit the pieces of cake!

Honestly, they're really unnecessary. People can use serviettes, and if the cake is really good, you'll probably find people want to eat it then and there.

I've been trying to find these because cake won't be served, it will be boxed up. We have a whole table of sweets so SOME cake will be out, but there will be so much other stuff, everyone gets to take a piece of cake home. "oh but we don't have the cake boxes so good luck finding them".

Can you post the link to the white boxes? I'd like to order them.
