Is it common to have a "Welcome Party" for out-of-town guests the night before the wedding? We will have a lof of family and friends travelling for the wedding and I am trying to decide if I should invite them to the restaurant we will be having the rehersal dinner or if I should just do it in the hotel lobby/bar (ceremony and reception are at the same hotel as we have rooms blocked). Is it rude to invite them to the restaurant at a set time after the rehersal dinner, or does that seem like I'm telling them, "sure, you're welcome to join us, but only after we've all eaten without you..." Or is it weird to throw a "Welcome Party" in the same location as the wedding reception (the hotel restaurant/bar)?
Thanks!
