My fiance and I had planned on paying for our wedding on our own but knew we'd have to cut back and have a smaller wedding. Well, this upset my Dad and he offered to help pay for the wedding so I "can have the wedding I really want" (in my Dad's words). I tried talking to him about how much he was planning on contributing. His response was basically "whatever it takes". My parents aren't well off so I know he has a number in his head but just won't tell me. I've revisited the issue with no luck and I don't want to nag him about it or seem like I am asking for more money. But we are starting to officially plan things now (ie, booking vendors, not just daydreaming) so I need a number. I'm not sure how to handle this or where to go from here, any advice?
