Too early?

My wedding is Aug 14, 2010. My invitations are stuffed and ready to go.
RSVP date is July 1st.
When is the earliest I can send them out without it being too early? We didnt send out STDs and I know people are starting to book summer vacations etc. Is May 1 too soon?

Re: Too early?

  • i wouldn't send them out much before june. june 1 is 10 weeks out, which is plenty early. plus your rsvp date is 6 weeks prior to the wedding. if you want to push it to 12 weeks that's doable, but i wouldn't go much more than that.
  • Why is your rsvp so early?  Does your caterer really need to know that early?

Usually they need to know about 2 weeks before, and then you can put in another week of cushion time so that you can call people that don't rsvp.

Sending them out 6-8 weeks before the wedding is standard, even if they're ready to go.

I was wondering the same thing.
  • Do it at 8 weeks. It's best for you because people will forget about it if they get it months in advance

  • I guess it's too late now, but your RSVP date is way too early.  Invitations go out 6-8 weeks before the wedding, which means you should send yours out around June 28th at the earliest (8 weeks), but since your RSVP date is so early, that won't work.  I definitely don't think you should them out before June 1st.

  • Ditto PPs.

Your response date is way too early.  Invitations should go out no earlier than the first week of June.

If it's not too late, reprint your response cards.

Uh, yes too early.  Send them early to mid June.

I would be highly annoyed to have to send an RSVP 6 weeks early.  Early response deadlines are solely for the convenience of the hosts and caterers, and an inconvenience for guests.  Who on earth gave you the idea to make it so early?

You will have late RSVPs no matter when the deadline is.
