Engagement gift for the groom to be?

Is it okay for the bride to give the groom to be a present at the engagement party?....I know he wants a camera and was thinking of getting it for him for the engagement party?

I think it is ok - but I might give your FI a heads-up that you are planning to give him a gift. I know my FI (or me if it was reversed) would be really embarrased to be given something at a party and have nothing to give me in return.

I never heard of the bride and groom giving engagement gifts to each other. Then again, not all engagement parties are gift giving events.
Do you know your fiance is definitely getting you something? If not, it might be awkward lol.

If you view your ring as a gift, I think you could get him something in return.  I'd just do it privately, not at the party.

I got my FI a gift. I got a beautiful ring that I love and I wanted him to have something that he loved to remind him of our engagement. I bought him a really nice Mont Blanc pen that fit his personality really well (he's a writer), but I gave it to him in private. 

Personally, I find it more intimate to exchange a meaningful gift like that in private, but I'm all for giving the groom an engagement gift. It's his engagement/wedding, too!

I would do this privately too. It's a nice idea, but I don't think it should be public.

I think that's really sweet, but I agree with everyone else to do it in private.  Maybe right before the party so he can use it right away.
