TO GO OR NOT TO GO

I received an invitation to a family friend's wedding.  The bride is the younger sister of a kid I grew up with and whose parents I was very close with.  I figured my brother (he is the same age as the bride) and my parents would be invited, but I was surprised to receive an invitation.  I am getting married in June of next year and planned on inviting her parents and her brother, but not her.  Do I politely decline going to the wedding knowing that I do not plan on inviting her to mine or to I graciously accept the invitation?  Is it more rude to go or not to go?

Re: TO GO OR NOT TO GO

  • My guess is her parents said "You're already inviting her brother and her parents.  Excluding her would be rude."

If you're planning on inviting her parents and her brother, but not her to your wedding, you may want to consider how it would appear to them.
Holy Crap. We survived the first year!

    Yes, this.
  • Totally agree with Tide. It's kinda weird that you were inviting her whole family and not her.

  • They probably invited you thinking it would be wrong to invite your brother and parents and not you.  Go if you want to, don't if you don't want to.  Either way, it doesn't obligate you to invite her to yours.

  • My sister isn't invited.  So she didn't invite the whole family.  And I don't want unicorns to die, so I guess I'm going.
