Invitation etiquette

Hi, 

If I'm doing a destination wedding with the goal to have a small wedding because I have a very large family, do I invite everyone anyway? The risk is that many would come anyway. How do you get around inviting everyone for a destination wedding? 

Please help!

Just don't invite everyone.  I think for a small destination wedding, it's not expected for you to invite your big family.  Just invite immediate family and closest friends only.

Invite who you want to invite.

Invite only immediate family.  That way if anyone asks why they weren't invited, you can honestly answer, "It was a very intimate affair with solely our immediate family"
