RSVP date, and are my response cards too crowded?

My wedding is June 29th.  I believe we need an initial headcount 7 days out, and a final headcount 3 days out.  When should my RSVP date be?  A week before the intial headcount is due?

Second, here is what I have written out for the response card.  Do you think it will look too crowded?  I'm not sure why the spacing won't change, but there won't be as big a space between the regular entrees and the children's options.

The favor of response is requested by X date

  • I think it's fine. All stuff you need on it.
  • your RSVP date is good. 2 weeks out is prefect.

    The RSVP cards are fine.

I guess I don't understand the children options.     Why do even need "cake"?  that should be a given.    I know some  5 year olds who would rather an entree than a salad.    Also what is 1/2 entree?  Chicken, beef, fish, which one?

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

I completely understand your train of thought lynda.  children can order whatever they want for all I care, picking a children's option is not required.  However, I just wanted to make it known that there are varying choices for kids (for example FI's 3 year old niece would be a perfect fit for the under 5 meal, she hates anything other than pasta and salad).  I belive the 1/2 entree is a smaller sized portion of either chicken, beef or fish.  Is there a better way I should phrase it so it comes across the picking a child's meal is not required, but it is available so parents don't have to call and ask about kids meals?

edit: wrong poster's name!  sorry lynda
  • You could probably take out the Charcoal Broiled part on the filet, it might make it look a little less crowded.

I'm bad a wording, but something like this.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Thanks I like that.  I will probably put an "or" between the 2 different children's options just so it's clear they are 2 different things.  but other than that I like it, thank you.
  • Kudos for putting special dietary needs on there. I always feel like I'm bothering the bride when I need to call and make sure my allergy can be accomodated!
