Should she be in my wedding party?

I have a bit of a dilemma. First a little backstory I just got engaged very recently and we are not planning to get married for over a year from now. FI and I are looking to have a small wedding party and a destination wedding so not too many ppl will be attending. I am in a friends wedding next year and she had asked me about who would be in my wedding party. I wasn't planning on having her in my wedding party. 
 
Do I need to have her in my wedding just b/c I am in hers?  If I don't how would I go about telling her?

I would love any advice that you ladies might have!

Thanks ladies! I was thinking the same thing first that it was rude and second that the only person I knew for sure would be my sister. I appriciate the advice!

You don't have to ask her just because she asked you. And you shouldn't be asking anyone right now anyway. You should wait until the date gets under a year away.

I liked the way Georgia Bride put it.  Once you've decided on a WP, you can say small DW, and small WP and you don't want folks to feel obligated.  What I've said for my own wedding is that with a DW, I consider everyone as part of the "wedding party".
