Monday Mornnig

How's it going?  I'm irritable today to say the least.  I hope this day goes by quickly.

Re: Monday Mornnig

  • Hey Stacks!

I hope your day goes by quickly and your mood changes.

The kittens stayed in our room last night.  Both of them took turns waking me up all night long, and I was so tired by the end of it, I was dreaming about running late and sleeping through alarms.  I can probably credit the fact that I'm sick for the second time this year to those darned cats.  I am ridiculously sleep deprived.  Those darned stinkers.
  • Why a case of the Monday Grumps, Stacks?

Good morning. Today is going to be one of those typical long days for me. Work until almost 4, get child to riding lessons ASAP after that, take children home, back to work for Curriculum Night from 7-9, then finally home for dinner and collapse.
  • I don't know, I just am.  I'm sure I'll get over it soon.

Those kittens sound like toddlers!  Mica your body just doesn't like Florida for sickness does it?  I hope you feel better quickly.

That sounds like a ridiculous day sara, I hope yours flies by faster than mine.  I'd be exhausted just planning that one out.

  • Man the Chicago teacher strike sounds really scary!  That's a lot of kids out of school and on the streets where they shouldn't be.  I hope they can get back in the classroom quickly.
  • Maybe I'm allergic to Florida.  :P  Nah, it's probably the sleep deprivation from all the animals.  My kittens are like a test-run for kids, except I can still work full-time without paying for a nanny (so basically, I have to clean up their poop, and they wake me up every couple hours all night long).  On the plus side, neither of them can have/cause a teenaged pregnancy, and the worst drug either will ever do is catnip.
  • That strike cannot be good news.  I hope they come to a soluation soon.
  • Morning everybody. Stacks, sorry you have the grumps, hope you feel better.

Mica, hate that you are sick, but crazy kitties make me chuckle.  My cat is 17, and when she sleeps with me she feels like she has to sleep ON TOP of me, makes for an interesting night.  But I do miss her playful years.

Sara, your run down of your day made me get more coffee.

On a TMI note, looks like I will have my period on  my wedding, which of course is not the end of the world, except it makes me extremely bitchy....any of you have any remedies for the moodiness of it all?

oops, sorry about the long post...
  • JG -- I have no good mood remedies (unless you want to ask your doctor for a PMDD antidepressant), although I have a feeling that on your day, even with your period, you will be over the moon with happiness.  Sorry that AF is planning on crashing your day, though.
  • jgreer, are you on BC?  If so can you skip the placebos and start a new pack right away to skip a period?  I wouldn't recommend that if you've never tried it before but just a thought.  My period was actually one of the factors in picking a wedding date.  lol.

Mica that's a pretty hilarious comparison but totally true!

  • Morning. Stacks, I'm sorry you have a case of the Mondays. I hope your day gets better! I am up way too early for my own good, but I haven't adjusted to the time change. And I'm pretty sure I had a bit of altitude sickness yesterday. I started feeling really crappy as we drove higher up and when we finally arrived where we are working I felt like I was about to pass out. I guess going from being 447 feet above sea level to 7000 feet above sea level was a bit of a shock for my body. I slept like garbage but oh well. Mica, as much as the kittens waking you up is frustrating, enjoy them while they are cute and small and want to be on you. Ada used to be a serious cuddler when she was a kitten and now the closest thing I get is her sleeping at my feet.

  • Mica, I know that you are right, but the days leading up to... Saturday I almost choked a woman at the bridal salon cause they couldn't find my dress.  I imagined really choking her.  Stacks no BC.  I also thought I had planned well, but stress and being 44 makes planning impossible.  Last month I had two peiods.  I just knew I had the menopause.
  • Oh man cfas, that's awful!  I'm glad you guys are alright and hopefully the insurance company will give you some good news.  I would hate to deal with something like that!

[QUOTE]Morning. I have a feeling this week is going to be long. So, there was a crazy big storm, including a tornado, that hit our area on Saturday. Lightning struck VERY close to our house. Because of that, half of our outlets don't work, at least $1500 worth of electronics are now useless, and my dishwasher is broken. H is going to call our insurance today to see if we are covered. #$(@%#$(#$&!!!

Cfas. that is horrible. Lightening is so scary.  I hope insurance covers your damage.
  • Cfas, that storm scared the crap out of me. When the weather channel guy basically named our neighborhood as the tornado zone I herded the cats into the bathroom while FI laughed at me. We briefly lost power and then had an hour of the power fading in and out, and our parking garage flooded thank goodness FI doesnt park at the way bottom. Sorry you had damage :

  • Cfas, lightneing damage SUCKS! Which reminds me, I need to back up the computer.

Oh, andplusalso, I ordered 4 new bras from hanesplace.com. One of them is on backorder, so whatever. Got the shipment Saturday, containing 2 bras in a size 38D (correct size), and a pink child's size 6 t-shirt. I looked on the invoice, thinking I had misordered, but nope, all bras on there. I will probably have to ship the stinkin' thing back, at my expense, for their mistake.
  • Morning.     I need another day off, but  I'm going to be very busy at work today.

Cfas - sorry about your house.  That has happened to me in the past.    On another note, I was at the Saints/Redskins game.   RG3 was pretty impressive to watch.   You are going to give us Eagles and everyone else in the NFC East a run for their money this season.

  • Good morning.

Not much to say today,  not much going on.  Stacks, I hope you feel better.  Cfas, I already said on PB, but I'm sorry about the lightning damage :(  I hope your insurance covers it.

  • Lynda-RG3 amazing to watch on TV, I bet was great to see live.  And that is from me, a forever panthers fan, although not thrilled to say that today.
  • The Saints defensive looked like crap, so that helped RG3 look good also.

  • Morning.

Stacks - hope your day gets better in a hurry.

    Mica - feel better.

Buttons - drink a LOT of wtaer.  Dehydration causes most of the symptoms of altitude sickness.  I noticed you had a layover in Denver yesterday.  I really like the Denver airport.  I'll be flying out of there next weekend :).

Cfas - Hope insurance covers the electrical stuff.  THat really stinks.

Ugh - it's Monday.  I'm working 7-11 this week instead of 8-12 cause I've got afternoon stuff going on most of the week.  This afternoon I'm getting my hair done, brows waxed and a pedicure (I can't get to my toes very easily these days).  And dog stuff tomorrow and Wednesday.  I'm supposed to be picking up a bunch of strawberries to make jam on Thursday and Friday I have to pack and clean to get ready to leave.  Whew.
  • Hey ladies.  Sorry for crappy mornings for everyone.  Yesterday was a disappointing day as a Bills fan.  But my fantasy team looks like I will win so that's a plus.  My money league, not the TK league.  I was close until I got boned by the stat updates.

    Loops I can't believe you're 26 weeks!

  • I know. It's kind of crazy to think Fruit Loop should be here in 14 weeks or so. As a Packers fan I was also disappointed in yesterday's football. Better luck against the Bears on Thursday.
  • Morning everyone. I feel like crap (feeling like I'm going to be physically ill) and I have class this morning. I don't want to go but I really should. Just feeling very overwhelmed by this semester and I don't know why. It's my last one (methods courses) so I really need a strong semester, and I've got so much anxiety about it. :(

Cfas - sorry about the lightning damage. That's super scary...

Honestly, as an education student in the city (with a potential to student teach in CPS), the strike needs to happen. The negotiations going on this time around, they finally got administrators to agree to have textbooks for EVERY student in the classroom at the start of school, instead of the previously arranged FIVE WEEKS into school. They finally got the administrators to agree to making sure that every classroom is climate controlled (so students and faculty aren't sitting in 100+ degree classrooms).

I know there's a lot of focus on the money issues, but that's because that's what the mayor (and the media) want people to focus on. He is calling evaluations a "small thing" when in reality, it's one of the top issues teachers (and preservice teachers like me) are concerned about: how do you expect kids to perform well on state exams when they are being shot at on the way to/from school and can't get a good meal outside of their school lunch? Nevermind the fact that content on standardized assessments often has very little relevence to the daily lives of students in cities, minority groups, and/or living below the poverty level. But yet, the city wants to get rid of any teachers whose students perform poorly on those assessments (even if students are showing improvement).

It's really a sad state of affairs all the way around. Politicians need to stay out of education as far as I'm concerned.
