Worst favors you've ever received?

Hi Knotties,

We're working on a story about bad wedding favors. Anyone ever been to a wedding with an awful wedding favor? Reply here and let us know!

Thank you!

Re: Worst favors you've ever received?

  • A piece of paper saying they donated to a charity I don't give a hoot about.
  • Beer coozies with the wedding couple's name and dates....given at a dry wedding reception no less!

I love my friends and all, but that wasn't something anyone would ever use again.

Me too. Worst was a silver bell thing engraved with their names and date etc. I threw it away...

  • Can I just say-- any favor at all? I think they are a total waste of money and people should just save it.
  • Mints. Gross ones, at that.
  • A scroll with the couples life story.

Im good with coozies in general.  Just not big "J+K FOREVER and dates" on them.

  • Anything personalized with the Bride and Groom's name and date of wedding.  I normally just leave those there.
  • One that I saw though in a book made me really LOL, it was a matchbook that doubled as a place card setting.  You had to actually write in the names of the guests on them.  I just couldn't see anyone sitting there and doing that.

Matchbooks are okay if they are done tastefully but this one was just sad.

  • A picture of the bride and groom with their names, wedding date and the phrase "Our fairy tale adventure starts today".  Too cheesy and they were filing for divorce 6 months later.
  • Jordan almonds.  Gross.

<div>I don't really care what they say as long as they keep my drink cold. My H got a slap coozie at a wedding once. That couple really went above and beyond.</div>
  • A bottle of home-brewed wine that was like Grapefruit flavor or something.  I seriously think they didn't open a bottle and taste it before giving it away because it was easily the nastiest thing I've ever tasted.  And I've had to swallow x-ray contrast before.

    Hi-jacking this thread momentarily....

Have you ever seen "Revenge of the Bridesmaids"  It's an ABC Family movie my kids just adore (even the 6 year old boy - scary but true).  There is a scene when one BM is sucking on Jordan Almonds and then spitting them into the little favor bag.    NEVER AGAIN will I touch a little premade candy bag.  lol

  • Jordan almonds.

Soap. Really. "Hey, friends and family, thanks for coming to our wedding. You smell bad, though, so go home and use this."

Charitable donations made on my behalf.

I'm with Anna--I love coozies, though H has asked me to stop acquiring them.

    Ha!

I was a bridesmaid in a wedding where the bride insisted on having us (the bm) help her roll little thank yous into a scroll and tie them off with ribbons.  When we tried to sit down at the head tables, yes plural the wedding party was so huge the tables were on risers, we had to squeeze into the tables and the risers shook and wine spilled everywhere including the scrolls.  The ink on the scrolls bled all over the place and they were completely unreadable.  I noticed that at the quest tables there were a lot of ruined scrolls too.  Stupid scrolls.  Stupid wedding.
  • Camo and blaze orange coozies from the couple who loves to hunt. They even had a silhouette of a deer printed along with their names and wedding dates.
    Anniversary
  • A grey plastic rock with a little Celtic symbol on it.  What the heck am I supposed to do with that?

  • A mini bar of soap.

My uncle thought it was white chocolate and took a bite. True story.

wtf? Why would you give that out?!

The worst I got was a coffee mug with a mix for hot cocoa... the hot cocoa mix was a swiss miss packet.
  • A homemade book mark in memory of someone who had passed away. The thought was nice, but I didn't want to see a stranger's face when I opened my books.

  • We didn't have favors because I think they are kind of pointless. I guess we had a photobooth which could've been a favor if the people wanted print it out. I didn't really realize it til after.

  • I dislike all non-edible favors, but if I get one more of those small picture frames with 'love' all over it, I'll scream!
  • A tiny box of wedding crayons and little wedding coloring books. And the crayons didn't even work that well.  And yes, these were the favors and not something for kids to do.

  • A donation to PETA.  Trumping the "charity you don't care about" for a "charity you actively disagree with".
