Christmas Cards... I know it's early

I am so excited we are doing a photoshoot this weekend with our dogs (all 5 haha) for our "engagement pictures." I just had knee surgery but we figured it be fun until we can take more formal pictures and give us a chance to get to know our photography on a laid back scale.

So we were thinking of making them into Christmas cards and putting a business card in the envelop with the STD information. FI wants the cards to read Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from the future Mr. and Mrs. hislastname. I told him its cheesy. What do the knot. Goddesses think? And is anyone still sending Christmas cards?

Re: Christmas Cards... I know it's early

  • I think it is cute, personally.  I would probably just say "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Holiday", not both, but that is merely my preference.  We are sending out Christmas cards with a couple of wedding photos this year.
  • Oh jeez that is a lot. I'm playing around with shutterfly to go that route and making a mailing list for Christmases and family parties. My grandparents love getting real cards with pictures.

  • I think it's cute. We've sent out Christmas cards for the past few years. We usually use a photo from the vacation we'd taken that year. The year we got engaged, we used an engagement photo on them.

This is really the only time you have to do corny--I say go for it!!  We are doing Christmas cards with a picture from our wedding.  We are doing two different designs--one that says Merry Christmas and one that says Happy Holidays (for our non-religious and Jewish friends).
  • I say go for it too.  We wrote something super cheesy like... "Hope you have a happy and engaging holiday season" right after we got engaged.  H thought it was super clever so I let him go with it, haha.

Yeah I'm letting him have fun with it he's even picking out the puppy costumes. We have 2 labs, 2 weenie dogs, and a boxer so I'm sure it's going to be a hoot. I've always done Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays because of a song we sing on Christmas Eve at my house( now our house). And seems to work with our friends and family. We have friends that celebrate so many holidays from winter solstice to orthodox Christmas it seems to cover the bases without offending anyone. I did find this awesome border for a photo collage card with all the holidays we may use. Not sure yet.

  • I echo the "go for it" people in here! Our friends last year all addressed our holiday cards to Brian & Kelly HisLastName even though we weren't yet married (but were engaged). We got a kick out of it, and I would get a kick out of the "Future Mr and Mrs HisLastName" line.

Also, totally jealous of your doggie-involved photo shoot! I can't seem to talk H into doing one, but I'm dying to have a "family" photo of us with our 3 dogs (and the cat if we could get him to cooperate), especially since my boy is getting older (will be 11 next April).

We used Shutterfly too and we just got ours! They look great.   We have a shorter engagement, and really didnt have time to send STD so we made a super cute christmas card with our engagement pictures on it and my fiance was the same way!

He really didn't care what photos were on it but when I went for the wording he goes "You ARE going to put the future Mr and Mrs Beauchot right?" lol

It's kinda funny the silly things he has gotten excited about or "expected". He has been pretty laid back and easy going with all other decisions, so I figured even though its cheesy, I'll let him strut my soon to be last name haha

Our card simply reads "Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from the soon to be Mr. and Mrs. Beauchot."
  • I think its cute... Cheesy Sure, but I think all wedding related stuff is cheesy.

We send Christmas Cards every year, except this year, becuase we just set out our Save the Dates and decided we'd do that instead of christmas cards!

  • This will be the first year of us sending out Christmas cards jointly. In the past on cards to my parents and siblings, his parents and siblings and a few veryclose friends, I signed both of our names. I went on Shutterfly and ordered our cards and used a couple pictures of us from the few mini vacations we took this year, like us at Churchill Downs and Jim Beam from our trip to Louisville for a wedding and Maquoketa Caves in Iowa, also for a wedding. I used a template that uses your initial and thought I would show our funny side and used BS(first names). I debated between that and PC(our last names) but thought BS was more us.

For Shutterfly, I recommend googling for coupons. I stacked like 3 or 4 different coupons plus the sale they had on cards and I think for 100 I paid like $34 total. I thought $0.34/card wasn't bad, I saw Wal Mart had some cards for $0.28/card but I liked Shutterfly's designs better.

  • I just got ours in the mail yesterday, and we used one of our engagement pictures, and went with "Merry Christmas from the soon-to-be HisLastName's!" then our first names. I used Cardstore.com, they have an amazing selection and were having a great sale. I love them so much, I am going to save one just for me!
