WR - Shoe Help

Hello all. I need suggestions on what type of shoes to wear for the wedding (specific examples welcome).

This is my dress. My BM are wearing shorter styles of dark purple dresses. The wedding will be in Florida in October.

I typically wear flip flops or sandals on a daily basis and seldom wear heels. I just don't know what style of shoes would look best with the dress. I don't want to wear a sandal type heel if that will look bad.

Do you want to wear heels?  I think you could find some really pretty flats that would work with that dress.

I would rather wear heels but I am open to flats if that is the best choice. I suck at shoes.

these are what I wore for my wedding.  With a long gown, your shoes aren't super noticeable, but these were comfy (I hate heels!)

I really like all the peep-toe pumps Whitsy found. If you aren't used to wearing heels, I'd stick with a lower one just so you aren't totally out of the realm of normal for you.

My bridesmaids are wearing cocktail length dresses, and they all got the same light grey patent leather slingbacks from Nine West with a low (2 inch) heel.  My sister-in-law is a very non-heel person and even she said they were incredibly comfortable.  I would definitely recommend looking at Nine West.

Personally, I went with nude patent leather Prada open toe heels - I didn't mind spending the extra money, as they are very neutral and classic, and can easily be worn again

and they were very comfortable despite walking around and dancing all night (I never took them off). Our ceremony was outside on grass, so I wanted a wedge rather than a regular heel. The reception was in a wood-floored ballroom.

I love DSW's Audrey Brooke shoes. They come in wide width and have extra padding under the ball of your foot. I had them as wedding shoes with a 3 inch or so heel and I wore them from 3pm till late at night.

Go barefoot. That's the only suggestion I have, and I am sure it's not helpful. BUT with the money you save on shoes, you can spend towards a vacation to CT!

I would look at Nine West or Aldo, they're my favorite brands of heels.

My shoes for my dress are 5 3/4" high Jessica Simpson pale pink Peep Toes. I didn't want to hem the dress, and I wear 4 - 5" heels often, and have two other pairs of 6" heels, so I was fine with them. MIL was not shocked when I told her about them. I love shoes, the higher the better, and the wilder the better. Our wedding colors are dusty rose and blue, so I decided on a pink shoe. My boss has been telling me I'll never make it down the aisle with the shoes on, but so far I haven't fallen at work. I've been wearing them around a few minutes in the evening to make sure I can walk comfortably in them.

Dillard's is a good place to go try on shoes, there are some brands of heels that are not comfortable for me - Antonio Melani comes to mind - even though they're good shoes. Some brands like BCBG, Jessica Simpson, Steve Madden are fine and they're comfortable, but they're not my favorites because they don't hold up. Nine West is my favorite and I have too many pairs of them.

Also, I'm loving all the shoes so far. I think I need to stay at 4" or lower so I won't be taller than FI.

I don't know that you can match your white to the white on your shoes - that's why I went with a color vs the color of my dress. Beyond that, I'm useless with colors.

I'm a farking midget at 5'3. John is 6'. I'll be almost the same height for once. It'll be wonderful. In all honesty, I can't imagine wearing a huge heel if I wasn't used to the height. Dealing with the dress and the heel would be too much. I wouldn't go much over what you wear in your day to day life.

I found my shoes at Ross's when shopping for something else. I saw them and had to have them. They were perfect.

afeliz79, this is the shoe... it looks a bit more grey in the picture than it does in person... it's a very pale beige/nude

Dot - I really have no clue what color. I'm probably not fashionable enough to pull it off. I like those you just posted. My flowers will be bright fall colors - yellow/orange, fuschia purple, bright green, some white.

Eagles, I think Whit posted those as well. I'm sure my feet wouldn't fit in your shoes. I gots big feets.

I think I am leaning more toward something with a sling back or strap instead of inclosed heels. I have issues with my heels being cut after 5 minutes of wearing shoes and I tend to do better with straps. I bought this purple magic stick that Muni recommended so I'm hoping that helps.

I have to be honest, I am so over peep toes. Especially when in combination with a platform. I don't get it and I'm sick of them.

Anyway, with your dress I think white would be best (pretty dress btw). I wore white ballroom shoes, which are uber comfy. I ordered from a company where I could customize style, fabric, and heel height.
