wording the Invitations for the type of reception

I realize that my guests will be expecting a full meal during the reception since my wedding will be at 6PM.  I want to let them know ahead of time that that is not going to be the case.  We are just having wine and several types of snacks.  How can I include that in the invitations?  I thought possibly "join us for a toast and a snack immediately....".  What do you think?

  • "Cocktail reception to follow"
  • Ditto PPs.

Althought I must ask is there any way to push your ceremony to a later time? Or earlier time? It's generally not nice to take up a meal period for your guests when you are not, in fact, serving a meal. Even if your ceremony was at 7 that would at least allow people to eat before your reception.

This thought crossed my mind, too.  ALthough, if the apps are really heavy (chicken and pineapple skewers come to mind...yum) and filling, then they can equate a served meal.

  • See her OP says "snacks" though. That doesn't read heavy hors d'oeuvres to me.

  • Change your ceremony time or serve enough food to make a meal.

I was giving her the benefit of the doubt that she hadn't used the word appetizer. ;-)
