Tide!

Hi!  How have you been?  And how is Taryn doing?

Bonus if you post cute baby pics.  :)

Hey!  We're good.  I don't have much time - I think she's waking up to eat.

She's had some pretty bad reflux and gas, but we got medicine for both last week, so she seems a lot more comfortable.  She's starting to smile and coo, which is absolutely friggin adorable.  She still wants to be held all the time or entertained if she is awake, but she's sleeping longer at night, 5-6 hours, which is very nice.

Let me see if I have any new pictures.

Tide - glad to hear she's feeling better!  And yay for sleeping at night!

DH is now cooing over the pics of Taryn.  She's so cute!
  • Options
She's so long and skinny!  She's too long for her newborn clothes, but the 0-3 clothes swallow her because she doesn't have much of a body!

How are you feeling?  Are you ready yet?

She's so cute! No uterus twitching here, but I do have a desire to buy tiny pink clothes. That's about as close as I'll get for now :)

How long was she at birth?

I'm feeling fine.  My belly is finally outgrowing my boobs, yay!  We got the back room cleared out and bought our car seat and stroller last weekend.  Also finished the registry, phew!  Now I just need to figure out when I'm going to take off by seeing how much time my disability covers.

Squeeeeee! I love her. SO adorable!

She was 20.6 inches at birth - measured 21.5 last week at her doctor's appointment, and she's gained over a pound already, but she's just got no body - she's long and lean.  (hopefully for her, that means that she got her daddy's genes there, and not mine)

Take as much time as you can afford!  I took 10 weeks, gave birth three days into my leave, and I only have 3 weeks left!  It still seems like it's too soon; I can't imagine having to go back at 6 weeks.

GG - The cats and dog are mostly confused, because they aren't allowed in the bedroom anymore (having 8 animals, we're trying to keep one room fairly pet hair-free).  Joseph, the cat in the picture, loves baby anything, so he really likes baby Taryn.  The others are mostly indifferent.

I plan on it!  I think my disability pays for 4 weeks before my due date and then 6 after.  But my due date is the last day of school, so I'll have June and July off.  And I have it set up that I get paychecks over the summer and disability will be on top of that - sweet!

I definitely think that we're moving this summer, though.  DH has only just started applying for jobs, but his boss seems to think he'll get a position.  So it looks like we'll be moving with a newborn.  Yay! </sarcasm />

Aw, well that's good to hear - we have 3 cats and I think they'll be great with babies/kids too. Joseph looks bigger than Taryn, no?? And wow, 8 animals!? Sounds like you have your hands full!

Sucrets - your schedule works out well then - it should give you lots of time with her :)  If you don't already have it, I suggest DVR.  Because at 4 in the morning there is NOTHING on TV.

I'm sure moving will suck, but at least it means DH will be getting a better job?  That's gotta count for something these days.  And, you'll be so busy w/ baby, that DH can take care of the move :)

GG - Yeah.  We have 7 cats and a dog.  It's funny how the dynamics of the house change when a child comes into the picture.  We've got to make more of an effort to spend time with them, because up to this point, we've been focused on the baby and they feel a big neglected, I think.  Pretty much all of the animals are bigger than Taryn at this point.

We have DVR, but who knows what will happen once we move.  Good point, though!

B's goal was to be done with research here in 2 years, so we've known about the potential of moving for awhile.  As much of a pain it's going to inevitably be, I am so thrilled to hopefully move somewhere closer to home.  There are 2 jobs in MA, 1 in NJ and a couple in Ohio that he'll be applying for, plus a few others that I don't remember.

The other thing that's up in the air is me working.  I really don't want to teach next year, but we'll see what happens with money and stuff.

What are your plans with Taryn once you go back to work?

Well, DH got a job working overnights, so the plan is he will be home with her during the day and I'll be home at night, so we shouldn't need much as far as childcare is concerned.

The hard part will be in June because I have to go to GA for 3 months for work

That's what my parents did growing up - my mom worked nights.  Let me tell you, it was always so nice having someone at home during the school day if I needed anything.  I definitely appreciate the sacrifice she made.

Boo for June - how far away is that from you?  It's a good 10 hours or so, right?  :(

Hiya MS!  How are things going for you?

I'm just glad that DH found job openings in the north!  I really didn't want to stay in the south or move further west.  I'm such an east coast girl.

I hear you - there are very few places I could imagine being happy living besides where I am right now.

I'm doing well, we just got through exam week at the high school and now it's back to the daily blah!  I'm so glad you're doing so well and I have to say that I lurk on this board here and there -- every once in awhile you post a thread with some title that makes me think something went wrong with the baby and I read it just to make sure that I am wrong. :)

How are all of you singers? or am I remembering that all wrong?

NY has Regents Exams this week, so all my HS teacher friends basically have off Tues-Fri and just have to proctor tests and do hall duty.  I'm jealous!  They don't do stuff like that here.  :(  I always liked that mini break.

I'm sorry if I make you think that something is wrong!  All is well, baby was measuring a little bit ahead and at the 50% growth percentile at our appointment 2 weeks ago.  Woot for being average!  DH and I are both short and come from short families, so I didn't expect her to be big.

IMy students?  They're doing well - making lots of progress and sounding pretty good at their spring concert music so far.  I still need to schedule my concert in April...that's going to be fun conducting while 8 months pg!
