I've been lurking here for the last few months and have found a lot of the advice helpful so I hope you can help me too! My mom is digging her heels in on this one.
FI and I are trying to keep our guest list as trimmed down as we can. We both come from large blended famileis with lots of step-everythings and are limited to 125 guests. I have a set of 4 cousins on my mom's side who are siblings. I am only close to my aunt and uncle and 1 of the cousins, and she has a serious boyfriend of several years. I want to invite my aunt, uncle, the cousin I'm close to, and the boyfriend. My mom thinks that I should invite aunt, uncle and all 4 cousins, but not include plus 1's. My argument is that I should only invite the cousin I'm close to and that it's rude not to extend an invitation to such a long term boyfriend too. Her argument is that the other cousins will feel slighted. Who's right?
